September and October are always very busy for our family. I really don't have time to be creative or resourceful. I need something really easy for the girls Halloween costumes and I really don't want to spend more than about $50 total. Am I being unrealistic? Last year, I bought a really cute tiger and monkey costume at Old Navy. They were on sale and I got a teacher discount for some reason. They were really appropriate because they couldn't talk, but Karina's favorite sound to make was a tiger sound and Annelise's favorite sound to make was a monkey sound. :) I looked at the Old Navy website and there isn't really anything else that seems all that interesting to me. Where else can I look for Halloween costumes? We live in a very rural area, so I either have to drive 3 hours one way to get something or buy it online. Or does anyone have cute ideas of something I can just throw together without a lot of work? I'd love form them to coordinate in some way, but I'm open to all ideas.

Last year I bought my guys costumes on eBay. I knew I wanted them to be an alligator and a shark, so I searched until I found something. I think I got them both for less than $40 including shipping. If you know what you want, eBay is great. Otherwise if you Google "toddler costumes" you can find links to Halloween stores that you can browse in. I also think Target has some cute costumes this year (at least online). I'm seriously thinking about dressing my guys like Ewoks or Jawas this year.

I ordered from Amazon last year. They had tons of different ones to choose from & the prices were pretty good.

Last year I got them on eBay -- I think they were Old Navy. The year before that we got them at Costco, but IIRC from last year, they only had cute ones in small toddler sizes -- the 3T and up ones were all cheapo princess and superhero stuff.

I'd say your recollection is correct; I was there on Sunday and they had the exact same crapola for this year.

Why didn't I think of Amazon? I'll also check out eBay. Thanks for the ideas, Ladies!

    Totally agree with Amazon!
I always have grand plans for Halloween but never follow through, maybe this year

We were at Walmart for Max's soy milk (it is super cheap there, but I don't really like Walmart) and while walking past the toy section they had some Sesame Street play clothes for $16 a set. We got Elmo and Cookie Monster. They are a jacket with the character as the hood with velco closures and matching pants size 2T-4T. For $16 you can't beat it and they had princess or Toy Story sets too. Max & Lily are totally addicted to Sesame Street. I just wish they had Big Bird, but two costumes for $32 that I don't have to sew :woohoo: is definately worth it.

I've used Costume Express, Old Navy and Amazon before. All have had great deals for both kids costumes. I think this year is going to be the first year they won't be coordinating since DD wants to be a bunny and DS wants to be Super Why.

We always buy Disney. They are usually around $40 for the dress but have good resale and dress play use

I wish there were more options for girls in long sleeves stuff... it's in October, not May :(

Old Nacy online just had 30% off everything and free shipping so I got my kiddos a bee and a butterfly one, each for about $15. I think the 30% off is on again later this week too. This is probably the last year they'll let me pick for them, so I figured I'd go cheap!

Last year I bought a ladybug at Babies R Us for around $20 and a frog from Joanne's from about $10 (I used the 40% off coupon). I was at Costco last night and they had costumes for around $15-20.

I got the girls each a Disney costume from Costco. One was Cinderella with the tiara and wand and one was Tinkerbell with the wings and wand, each for $22. The ones at the Disney store were a bit nicer, but were around $40 just for the Cinderella dress by itself....I think the Costco ones will do fine!

It is cold here in Oct!! One year we put skin tone long sleeved leotards under the costume (mermaids) and another year we made sure that the costume had long sleeves (unicorns)
