    Hey ladies...

I am officially 20w1d today!! yeah. I thought i would die before making it this far! I have an u/s tomorrow and i am scared the doctor is going to freak out or "give me the talk" about weight gain. At first i didn't gain and was concerned about not gaining but like i have said in previous posts it has hit me big time now. Everyone says yeah but" your have twins" but holy cow i have gained some serious weight. I am a little nervous something is wrong for me to gain it this fast. Funny thing is I am 5 months pg now and you can't even tell i am pg. Everyone says it looks like i am losing weight but i can tell. I still fit in my reg clothes but they are gettin tight. Now i am a "fluffy" girl so i know that could be why some people can't tell i am pg. Also alot of the people that say they think i am losing weight are the ones that didn't see me for awhile and i had actually dropped a good 50 pound before getting pg so my face looks smaller but my @ss is huge!

Has this every happend to any of you? Did you gain tons of weight in a quick amount of time. Was there anything wrong. I keep thinking gestestional diabetes but don't know. I haven't been tested and was going to opt not too but i think i am going to do it now to check and see what is going on. I guess i want some other explaination as to why so much weight gain besides that it is twins.. Thanks for listening. I guess my pitty party for the day

IMO.. it is a good thing to gain lots of weight. Its good for those babies and remember that in about 10-12 weeks you won't be able to eat as much and your weight gain will probably slow down. I gained a good amount early on and now I have hit a wall and am concerned that I can't seem to put any weight on.

I personally would say Phooey to any dr that says anything about a hearty weight gain at this point.. Congrats on making that 20 week milestone.. its a big one.

Up to about 18 weeks I only gained 2 lbs. By 20, I really had an appitite and I gained 5 more. Now I have been eating a ton, and have gained probably close to 20-25 lbs. I am not concerned since the babies are growing. All the weight is up in front. All my maternity clothes fit fine in other parts of my body. Also, you have to remember that as soon as the babies grow more you will not be able to eat nearly as much. I have heard that a lot!

There were two appts., a month apart I think that I gained 11 lbs (gained 11lbs twice) and I freaked when the nurse told me that, but the nurse said: "relax, it's twins... it's ok!" I wouldn't be too concerned! Just try to eat healthy and don't go hungry!

When we had our u/s discovering twins at 19 weeks, I had only gained 10 lbs. That was just the right amount for the singleton I thought I was having. Once we saw it was twins (with complications) I really started working to pack on the pounds. By 24 weeks, I had gained a total of 24 lbs.

lol i just posted the other day about getting fat :) im up 44lbs and my arse and thighs show it in a BIG way. haha! sometimes it really upsets me, and then other times (like just now) i dont give a crap and have a bowl of icecream. i feel your pain but try not to worry. do you best to eat healthy first, and then indulge. i try to do that. ill have some fruit or veggies, and THEN the bowl of icecream. that way i dont have as much room for the bad stuff :)

I'm with you there I'm exactly 20w1d today and this last month I think I have gained 7lbs. So that will put me at gaining only 9lbs so far. I eat all the time it seems anymore.

I would say to eat while you can & gain weight while you have an appetite. I had gained almost 40lbs a few weeks ago & have now lost 9lbs so now I'm only up to 31lbs. I am 34wks & am only measuring 39wks which is kinda small I guess. The babies are the right weight & the MD isn't concerned so I guess it's OK but eat while you can in case this happens to you. I will prob deliver within the next 2wks so I doubt I'll gain much more weight (I'm already contracting & dilated). Good luck....

I had no problem gaining weight with my singletons, but it's been harder for me to gain weight with twins. I think everyone's body is going to react differently, and I wish docs wouldn't say, "You only need to gain this. . . " or "You're gaining too much," when it comes to twins. Twins and multiples are a different story! I think as long as your fundal height is growing and the babies seem to be doing well, I wouldn't stress about the weight.

I think it's best to not stress out at all about weight gain with twins. When we found out we were having twins at 9.5 weeks, my OB said to me, "I tell all my singleton moms that they don't need to eat for two....they just need to eat twice as healthy! But when it comes to twins, that doesn't apply." He said it was so important to gain weight, especially in the first and second trimesters, because it is so difficult to add weight in the third trimester. I'm almost 29 weeks and have gained 37 pounds so far. The babies are measuring a week ahead and are growing very well...so I definitely think there are lots of benefits to healthy weight gain!

I am 26 weeks pregnant now, and I have already gained 28 pounds. And during my first trimester, I just gained 2...So, you can imagine!!!!
Am sure since you are carrying twins, the weight gain is justified. Don't stress about it!!! You'll be fine!!!!

I gained a lot of weight in the beginning and then kind of stalled. I would go back and I would have gained 8-10 more pounds up until about 28 weeks, then I didn't gain anything for a while. I gained about 3 pounds at my last check though. It is all subject to your body, your babies, and how you are eating. I would definitely have your sugar tested, it will make everyone feel better as this can seriously effect the babies. I am sure you are fine though. Good luck.
