I know its kind of silly but is any hair style better for a mom of twins? I'm debating cutting my hair short. Right now its medium length stacked in the back (like the Victoria Beckham bob everyone has only longer) with long bangs. Since its still falling out all over the place, it grows fast which means 4-5week appointments, and the babies are starting to grab at it I'm just wondering if I should go short short or grow it out and do a ponytail? My only thought on the ponytail is that if I grow it out I will only wear a ponytail, short hair forces me to fix it.

How do you keep your hair styled and did cutting it help with the shedding at all???

I have long hair, middle of my back, and I do tend to keep it in a ponytail a lot. But I find longer hair to be a lot less maintenance and that's what I'm all about these days. Fixing my hair just means I blow dry it. (Which I normally do.) The kids do pull on it some, but not as often as they did when they were smaller. And I'm teaching them not to.

Having said all that, I've been entertaining the idea of getting it cut recently. I wouldn't do anything short because I don't like short hair on me. It would still have to be able to go in a ponytail.

I'm one of those people who gets a haircut every 6-8 months. I get it cut short (chin length) and then let it grow out until I notice that I'm wearing it in a pony tail all the time. Then I go back and get it chopped again. My hair is naturally curly, but looks best straight. In the fall, I usually get a style that works well either way, but last month I went in and said to just give it a good curl cut b/c with the humidity I KNOW I won't be putting the time into it.

i keep my hair about shoulder length with layers - that way it's long enough to pull back during the day when the girls are awake, but short enough to not require marathon blow drying sessions. also, it's a good length for styling when i do go out.

I had pretty long hair for the first 9 months of my babies´ life and had it tied up all the time day & night. I then got it cut shoulder length and was delighted with it. Then I went shorter and got it cut higher at the neck with longer bangs at the front. I went even shorter again a week ago. I never need to tie my hair up and can still tuck it behind my ears. The babies still grab it but nothing like before! It´s so comfortable - I dont know why I didnt do it before!!!

I have shoulder length hair with layers. It's long enough for a ponytail, but not too short. Just about right for me. I didn't do much with my hair AT ALL during the first 3-4 months. But now I spend the time blow drying it maybe every other day or so. The babies are entertained by the hair dryer, so it gives me some break time!
Also, I shed hair at about 3 months and it lasted for 6 weeks or so. Then it stopped and now I have my regular growth pattern. I didn't want to cut it short just because of a few months of shedding. I figured I would regret it.
ps-when my DH would complain about the shedding hair, I would remind him my other option is too chop it off (he doesn't like short hair). Then he couldn't complain anymore :D

I have long hair, in a pony tail frequently but not all the time. I get it trimmed maybe twice a year!

I am a hair stylist. I so know where all my clients are coming from now not having time to do thier hair. My suggestion is talk to your stylist about styles that will compliment your face. Washing and blowdrying your hair at night may help since your husband will be home. In the morning Use a curling iron or flat iron. you can also get some velcro rollers for some body or even hot rollers. Good luck let me know how things go

This is just about me too.. I hadn't gotten my hair cut the entire time i was pregnant, and I got a trim when the girls were 4 wks and then around 10 wks i got it colored and cut again. Mine is naturally curly and i try to keep it simple. Currently my hair is short, well around my chin with sort of a swing bob.. I can keep the front pulled up to keep it out of my face, but much longer then this my hair is constantly ending up in a pony tail all the time..

I don't know what it is, but the hormones of pregnancy make me cut my hair SHORT! With my first two kids I let it grow out after they were born (I try to keep it an inch or two longer than my shoulders so I can.....*gasp*.....wear it in a ponytail), but for some reason this time I'm trying to keep it shorter!

It's just longer enough in the back that I can run some gel thru it with my fingers to make it "spiky", and long enough on the sides to tuck just behind my ears. It takes me 5 mins to wash/towel dry, gel and blow dry it! So easy.

I think shorter is easier to care for, but longer is easier to just throw up in a ponytail on day 2 (or 3), of no washing! :p

Ha! I'm the same way! I've been wearing a ponytail a lot these days (which doesn't do much for hiding my temple grays!) so I've been thinking about getting a cut soon!

I had short hair for about 8 years. Then when I got pregnant and my hair was growing crazy fast I let it grow, and grow and grow. My babies are 15 months now and Im thinking about cutting it all supershort however at this point Im going to donate all my long locks to LOCKS OF LOVE :)

I get my haircut currently 2x a year and I do alot more with it then just a ponytail. I do buns, braids, clip up just the top half or if I go on a date with DH I straighten it all out. At one point I got bored but I knew I didnt have enough to donate yet so I got a perm to hold me over.

Your hair is going to fall out no matter what cut you get until your hormones even back out. Do whats easiest for you!!

Mine's always been long. I don't think it would look good short. I have a small face and a long neck <_< so I usually keep it long, layered in the back, layered in the front, and I have my stylist thin out my hair about half [it's pretty thick].

With that said I almost always have it in a pony tail. I actually DO my hair about once a month :p

I cut mine very short (above the ears, almost buzzed at the nape) when the twins were 4 months old. I can't tolerate having it any in-between length -- it either has to be long enough for a ponytail or short enough to never, ever fall in my face.

When it was long (well below my shoulders), I just wore it in a ponytail every day, and now all I do is comb it and let it air-dry, so the maintenance is about the same. But at least I feel like I have a hairstyle now, rather than a ponytail. My only regret is that I didn't have quite enough to donate.

And it definitely cut down on the shedding! I could tell that it was falling out, but the pieces were so short, it didn't seem that gross.

My hair was long until I had the boys then I cute it off short. Now it is about shoulder length and I was just asking DH the other night what he thought if I cut it off. He said you never like it when you do. But the problem is like most of you I wear a ponytail everyday. If it was a cute cut that was low maintenance at the same time I would like it but what to do. I have wavy to curly hair depending on the humidity. Even if I blow it out it frizzes. I can never get it as straight at home with the straightener like they do at the salon. So who knows I will probably just keep it this way.

I cut my hair short about six weeks after the babies were born--just couldn't handle messing with it any more. I can cut my own hair (it's curly) so I do it myself in about five minutes every six weeks or so. I love it shorter and so does DH--I hadn't worn it short since I was 11 and it was quite a shock at first.

I got my hair cut to just above my shoulders about a month before the twins were born. I also got the swoopy bangs, and i love it, because now all i do is get out of the shower and put my hair up, and pin my bangs up a little bit. Im always about 6months to a year behind with the hairstyle things. But I love it, and when I first sported this style, my husband said to me "your hair looks really sexy like that". probably the FIRST time he's ever said OR noticed my hair. I have it down to a science now, my showers take 10 minutes, and my hair styling takes 3minutes. A big change, because my hair is red, and REALLY thick, so if its long, it takes a long time to do anything with.

I had it short for years, but started growing it out while in the hospital on bed rest (duh!). ;) When I finally got to the stylist he suggested I keep growing it because it had thickened up quite a bit and it would be easier to put in a ponytail if I didn't have time to blow it out. I like it longer; the only downside is that it's long enough now that the boys can tug on it while nursing. Hello, split ends! :p

I have an appointment Friday for my first cut in 7 months. It is falling out like crazy so I keep it in a ponytail most of the time. I am tired of seeing it all over the house but have decided to keep it long. It is so much easier with the girls right now. If by chance I leave the house I can flat iron but most of the time I do not have the time. I will be asking the stylist for the best cut for me when I go in.
