DS's had this little "wings" growing by his ears & I've been saying forever that he needed his 1st haircut, but I just couldn't ever bring myself to do it. Well, this weekend DH had taken DD somewhere so it was just me & DS in the house so I thought "now or never". I sat him on a chair in the garage & gave him my cell phone to distract him.......the 1st side went well, but by the time I got to the 2nd side he was getting ansy and wiggly and it just looks horrible!!! :cray: And really, I was fast; I think the whole haircut only took me about 5 min.

I want to try & touch it up - any pointers?? He is on the move 100% of the time, I almost think I'll have to wait till he's asleep!

We do it really badly. :D If it were up to me I would take them to my stylist (she's good with toddlers!), but DH insists on doing it ourselves to save money. Fortunately we have girls, so we just have to cut their bangs. We do it in the bath, but even then, I have to hold the kid's frantically wiggling head while DH goes at her with the safety scissors. All we try to do is keep the bangs out of their eyes, but they are usually uneven. I just keep reminding him not to chop them too short, which he did the very first time -- their bangs were at the very tops of their foreheads.

If we had boys, I think we would pay for someone else to do it. No way could I get a boy's hair to look decent.

I get mine done from the local haircuttey and since they are boys I get the buzzed. I try doing it here, but its hard..they go NUTS, and at least at the Haircut place can do it while I hold them...they charge 20 bucks for both kids...and at this age, Its worth it. Its hard though....I did it today as a matter of fact and they just had huge fits...

Its hard, but it is what it is!!

I do dh's and the twins. Get an electric shears with guards, and you can't mess up. I'll use a scissors on dh, but the boys are too wigglely.

Ditto. I take them out onto the deck, strap them into their booster seats, and buzz away. They HATE getting their hair cut and those screams can really echo in a hair salon

A friend of mine has her own shop right down the road and she does it for us. They were really good about getting haircuts at yours' age. Now it is almost impossible. The last time they got a haircut I had to bribe them with a new toy, LOL But it worked.

DH holds my son while I do the cutting (with electric shears and a guard). It is loud but cheap.

I take the boys to a barber shop. It cost me 14 bucks every 4-5 weeks....

I had to start cutting DS's hair at 5 months old. His first one was at Cookie Cutters hair place and I just held him. After that I would put him in his booster seat at the table with a teething biscuit and cut his hair. We only had to cut it every couple of months. Now we have to cut it every 2-3 weeks! He is still in his booster seat, but with a sucker instead of a teething biscuit. Works really well!

Ditto the lollipop!!!! It works wonders! I put a chair out on the back deck, give a lollipop and buzz away. I have 3 boys, all with the same buzz cut!!! I basically line them up and shave them down....kinda like the military! :p

With the girls we took a section and cut it at a angle so it would be choppy and cut it that way it looks feathered and allows for mistakes
