my girls have really curly hair and i use detangler in the mornings to put it up, etc. but we live in florida and the humidity is terrible and there hair is always frizzy (still cute though). i am looking for something to smooth their curls our a little bit, so they'll stay curly throughout the day. i know there are tons of hair prodcuts out there for women, but i didn't want to use them because i thought they might be too harsh for their hair.

    any suggetions???

    thanks in advance,
    rebecca

I'm in the same situation as yours. I would love to hear any tip on how to detangler my daughter's curly hair too!

    Hi!

My daughter also has curly hair! I've been using the new Johnson & Johnson shampoo & conditioner for curly hair, this shampoo is for little ones. Can't say her curls look any smoother though...Oh & she has lots of hair already. Cant imagine how it's gonna look when she's 3 or so.

So yes, I would also like to know if there's a safe product out there for little ones.

Not marketed as a kids' product, and very pricey... I use an organic product called "John Masters Organics" Vanilla-Something? Pomade on my son's curls. His curls are short and I barely put any on. I rub it on my hands and then lightly touch his hair with my hands... just enough to prevent frizz. I don't know if it would work well on longer hair, but I figured I'd throw it out there. I've been happy with it. :) While it is expensive, I think the one jar would last until he's 18. A little goes a LONG way.

I once got something at the health store. I cant remember the name. It was like a liquid and then foamed when you put it in your hand. It was really light. So maybe check out a local health food store.

I use the Johnson's Buddies Leave-in Detangler. I wet DD hair with a spray bottle of water and then spray detangler and brush every morning. It works great and she has "Shirley Temple" spiral curls.

I found this website, they have lots of things. Nearly every one of those brands has some kind of leave-in conditioner or styling cream for anti-frizz. The Blended Cutie, Fairy Tales and Fuzzy Duck ones look particularly good (IMO).

I gave up on kids' products, and use Biolage Smooth Shine Milk (or something like that) for my older DD -- it's a leave-in conditioner spray. I also use a brush where the bristles push down, if that makes any sense, so they don't pull her hair.

It works pretty well, but frankly nothing helps her hair in the summer heat! It's just BIG these days....

(And yikes, so sorry to read your story....)

I just use a little drop, and I mean a drop, of Trader Joe's Vitamin E oil on Ainsley. I massage it into her scalp, and it also keeps her hair nice. Too much though, and she has a gheri-curl. Her hair is extremely curly. I started out using the oil on her scalp for cradle cap.

Although it isn't a product, I'd like to reccomend the book Cury Girl. I got some great tips for my girls' hair and actually, there are some homemade product ideas inside.

I completely agree to this book. I took it out from our library and loved the advice.
I thought it sounded not so great, but I decided to try it. It was the very best advice for Ainsley's hair. I no longer use shampoo in her hair at all, just Sauve kid's conditioner in place. It was worked FANTASTIC. The care was miles easier, and we always get great comments on her hair too. It does not get all matted together at all anymore.

I use the J&J shampoo plus conditioner, detangling spray, and I bought a child's mousse at Ulta. If you have a Snip It's near you, they sell children's products. So does Great Clips.

This site sells a children's line as well, but it is pricey. I have curly hair too, and I love their adult line. www.ouidad.com
