hair loss..

Ok, the kids are almost 5 months old and my hair just keeps falling out. I'm so tired of finding hair EVERYWHERE...when does it stop!!

 

I forget when it ended for me after my first child, but I just noticed it is starting this time around :angry: now I have to hurry and get my haircut so at least the pieces won't be so long..
I guess it also means I might have to stop complaining about the dog shedding so much too, ha.

Mine is just beginning to slow down. I'm still shedding but not that much. I began shedding about 3 months PP.

Mine practically stopped around the beginning of their 7th month. Now I have all those little hairs growing back in and it looks like I have sideburns if I put my hair in a pony! :laughing:

 

i had been feeling lucky as i hadnt started shedding as yet but couple of days ago i started shedding with a vengance! if i shed like this for next couple of months, i'll go bald!!!!!:-0

 

Mine has slowed down a lot in the past couple of months. It can also be caused by your thyroid is out of whack, which happens a lot after you have a baby.

 

It's my understanding that during pregnancy you do not shed any hair, so all your body is doing after birth is getting rid of all the extra hair it kept around. Anyone else hear that?

My hair shedding is slowing down but, like PP I can not blame the dogs anymore for hair on the floor.....I can not even hide that it is mine since mine WAY TO LONG!!!!

 

Yes, I have heard that about hair during pregnancy as well. Hair loss is completely normal and can happen through out the first year but like Becky said, it can also be a sign that something is not right with your thyroid so if it continues longer than one year it is usually best to have your doc test your levels.

 

I just STARTED losing mine. Oy. It's so gross and I keep finding long strands in my boys' fat little hands. Your babies are adorable, I haven't been on the board for ages and just now saw their pics!

My hair loss was worst from 4-7 months, now I am back to normal

 

Until I read this topic, I thought that I was alone suffering with my hair loss. I feel much better now. I had to cut my hair so that the short new growth did not stand out too much.

 

i'm still shedding too!! started at about 4 months & i've read that it can last until about 1 year!! i went & got it all chopped off saturday cuz of the little "new" hairs & also because i had a lot of breakage around my ears from the twins pulling the strands that fell out of my ponytail!! :shok:

I am 25 wks pg and shedding BAD!!!!! I have been for the past couple of weeks. It is unreal, and freaking me out!! I have a lot of hair, but my sis who does it noticed that it is thinning. I seriously may need to chop it soon, but scared b/c I have never had short hair. I cannot stand doing it though...I dread washing it and doing it everyday. I asked my OB and midwife and both said it is hormones. I am going to ask again on Tuesday, and see if I can get my thyroid checked. I lost it with DD, but nearly as much and it was after I had her.

The shedding started for me about 1 month pp, and has just about stopped now. I have a long layered cut, and it's sooooo beautiful now with that new 1 inch layer all around my hairline--yuck!

 

It was finally around when mine were 8 months that is slacked up. I lost so much hair daily I swear you could make a rug out of it!
