My daughter has fine hair and we can't seem to keep little clippies in it very well. I just want to keep her hair out of her face cute, little face :). I am resistant to cutting bangs right now (maybe because I grew up in the era where my bangs were basically cut from my ears and around the top of my head...that's a whole lotta fringe!).

Any good suggestions for clippies? I am also thinking about fabric/stretchy headbands...any thoughts on those?

I am interested to hear but will be upset if someone has a fabulous suggestion just because I finally broke down and cut bangs that I didn't want to :FIFblush: ! I hate the way they look but I couldn't get her to keep any clips or headbands in and she was constantly pushing at her hair and her eyes were getting irritated. I figure I can let them grow when she is a little older and better able to manage hair things!

My girls have fine hair as well, but I eventually just decided that I wouldn't cut their bangs and the longer they have grown out the easier it is to keep it out of their face. Also, now that we have been using clippies and things in their hair (and ours don't stay in well either) their hair is now just trained to hang off to the side. Now, it still gets in their eyes some, but it seems like now that it is longer the clips can hold it better and their bangs sort of split now instead of hanging straight in their face.

We did bangs, lol. Thankfully it looks great on her, I don't think she would ever keep clips in her hair if we tried so we didn't have much choice.

I put 2 pigtails on the top of my DD head every morning as she has fine hair that grows forward. I don't want to do bangs either. This works well. I just buy the bands that are like 1/4 inch wide and the no tangle. They work great and it keeps us all happy. I am hoping when her hair gets longer it won't be as neccessary. I can't find any headbands that stay in place. Wish I could.

They make these barettes that have been working pretty good at keeping Abby's fine hair out of her face. I got them at Target I think, but it could have been CVS. They are called No Slip Grip by Scunci. They also have grippy pony tail holders. I love having the girls with long bangs. My Mom never let me grow mine out.

My DD has curly hair, and we cut bangs when she was around 20 months and still almost bald. As her hair grew in and got thicker, her bangs started curling up and looking wild. I've been growing them out ever since. Moral of the story, don't cut bangs unless you truly want her to have them! Anyway, we do little pony tails on the top of her head or two little pig tails on the top of her head. I also use those little metal Goody barrettes sometimes. She always seems to lose them though.

We did end up cutting bangs as well. BUT....I like using the plastic type rubber bands. They stay in and don't rip the hair out upon removal.

Both my girls had bangs until they were at least 3. Nothing would ever stay in. Then Amy decided she wanted to grow her bangs out, but by then she was old enough to use a headband -- one of the hard (flexible, but not floppy) cloth-covered ones.

I do have a cute picture of my one daughter with a CHIP CLIP on her head !! I used one that looked like it had teeth like an alligator. At her age it is being pulled out soon after I put it in. What about those paperclip ones ?

I cut bangs in my older dd, by 6 months old her hair was literally in her eyes. She's had bangs ever since! But she has super super thick, yet super fine hair, so it would just stay in her face otherwise. and she looks super cute with bangs and 2 piggy tails!

I've been growing out the girls bangs for a while now but I just pull them back into a higher ponytail during the day so they don't get into their eyes. I'm hoping soon they will be long enough to just tuck behind their ears or be thick enough to fit in a clip nicely. Here's a pic as well as my avatar is a pick of the ponytail Hair Pic

Sarah's growing out her bangs right now. The little tiny elastic rubber bands seem to work the best. Her hair parts on the side, so I use that. Then I run a small french braid from the part, over the top of her head and down one side to over her ear and into a long tail. Then I put a second small french braid down the other side with a tail. Sometimes, we just leave the braids and let them act as a natural headband. Sometimes, like today, I pull the rest of her back into a pony tail and add the braid tails in. Sometimes we add a cloth headband over the braids for something extra. It works really well.

If you can't do the french braids, you do a small ponytail and then lay it down and add some more hair in and hold with another elastic. Then lay that down, add some more hair and hold with another elastic till you work down to the top of the ear. I've done that on both sides. It acts as a natural headband also.

I hope this makes sense. It's hard to describe hair stuff sometimes.

I still use small elastics for them. They won't keep any other hair accessories in their hair.

I had to cut my ds's hair to get bangs... b/c well... you can't put a clip in a boy's hair! though he wants one when we put on in his sister's hair-- very cute.

anyway, there are a couple of types of clips, the ones that bend and and clip in place seem to stay in firmer, though my dd still will take them out and put them in her mouth. ugh! I realized I had a huge set of the tiny plastic rubberbands, those are great! I wished I'd remembered to try those a couple of months ago. anyway, I'm hoping to not cut my dd's hair into bangs either!

I am finding the headbands to work really well for Abby. They are sort of training her hair to fall to the side. A fine layer of bangs is forming anyway, but at least I haven't had to cut any. I fix her hair out of her face a lot of with cloth rubber bands as well which helps.

With my oldest daughter, I gave in & cut bangs and, later, the growing out of the bangs was so horrible that I swore when I had Tess that I would never cut bangs in her hair (or, now, Lila's). We have always used those tiny, clear plastic elastics that are made by Goody to pull their hair back & off their face. They stay in really well and it is the one thing that Lila won't pull out of her hair.

We also use the tiny elastic bands from Goody. I either do pigtails or a ponytail or something. DD is getting better about leaving things in her hair so I can use some of the no slip clips and headbands now too.

And I'm teaching her to put it behind her ears and push it off her face too.
DD has curly hair, so bangs aren't really even an option for us. (I wouldn't want them anyway.)

I would put a little pony tail at the top of her head and then do a topsy turvy thing so it stayed flat against her head. Besides that I found the plastic head bands with teeth worked.
