Had u/s today and twins are measuring a week apart =( How worried should I be?

I am 7 weeks and 1 day and had an u/s today. One baby measured right on at 7 wk and 1 day and the other measure 6 week and 1 day. The smaller one had an obviously smaller sac too. Both had good heartbeats.

I am so worried. I don't want to lose one, yet I don't know how bad this is or how worried I should be. I tried asking the nurse but she gave very vague answers.

Please help! Has anyone experienced this and was it ok?

    Sigh...good sigh...

I was too hurried for an answer to read the other threads first, but I just did and this seems to be very common! I will not stress about it and here's is hoping and positive thinking for growth with both babies (even if it's in their own pace) at next week's u/s.

Giselle, I think you are good to not worry. :hug99: My two measured differently at the beginning of the pregnancy...then they'd measure the same and then apart again. They did their own thing and as long as your doctor isn't too worried, I would say for you to enjoy your pregnancy. :hug99:

Welcome to Twinstuff!! And congrats on your twins!

When we found out they were twins they were measuring a week apart (and a week behind). You are right, it is very common.

By the very next week mine had caught up. When do you go back? I began spotting that next week and so called and requested an ultrasound for comfort. They gave me one and we saw their heartbeats. My OB told me that once you can see the heartbeats your risk of miscarriage goes down to 13 percent. Then when you hear it through the belly it goes down to 3 percent.

I agree with Twin Love - enjoy your pregnancy. Worrying will just make you more nervous and not help anything.

Thanks :) It is reassuring to know that it's common and I am really enjoying this site.

mine were consistantly anywhere from 3 to 7 days apart...as long as they don't hit 20% discordance (or 2 weeks difference) the perinatologist said they were fine...

hey you may wind up with boy/girl twins and your girl twin may be the smaller one :)

Mine were always around 7-8 days apart. They were fine-- When they were born there was 1 oz. difference in them!!! Ultrasounds dont know everything!!!
