Spent much of last week thinking I was going in to labor but the ctrx kept stopping. Woke up Thursday morning determined to have this baby before my scheduled induction. Decided to go to target to pick a few things up, including evening primrose oil, and also to walk around in the A/C. Felt a trickle was I was walking to the checkout. Thought it was nothing, since I had felt a trickle two days before, which turned out to be nothing. Drove home, got out of my car and felt another trickle, went to the bathroom and felt a gush - decided I had really broken my water. I didnt want to go right into the hospital, but felt I shouldnt wait too long since I was GBS +. I had made plans to go for lunch (korean) with a friend, called him and asked if we could change it to chipotle, and if he would mind dropping me at L&D afterwards. He handled it quite well, considering he has no kids and had never been through this before. So, water broke around 11am, got to hospital around 2:30pm. I had emailed my OB so she was there when I got there, she confirmed my water was indeed broken. Contractions were just starting at this point and my husband was getting his car repaired so I told him to take his time. A friend came to hang out for a while, it was all pretty relaxed. My husband showed up around 5pm after making sure some friends could pick the girls up from daycare and keep an eye on them overnight. My OB had to leave to do some research related stuff on another campus but said that she'd come back to deliver afterwards if I started pitocin. This was pretty awesome as I was seeing a group practice and she wasnt even on call. But she was my favorite and was the doc to deliver my girls. I agreed to start pitocin and got my epidural. This was about 7pm. By 11pm my OB had returned and checked me, and I was still only 3-4cm!!! She noticed a bit of water bag remaining and got rid of it. My ctrx picked up pretty quickly after that, so much that my epidural was only taking the edge off. I called to question whether something could be done about the pain and the anesthesiologist suggested I get checked. Who knew - but I was 10cm and ready to push. That bag of water had been impeding my progress. My doc came and 4 pushes later he was out. All 8lbs 6oz of him. So tonight he will be a week old. Everything is going well aside from some hormonal melt downs here and there on my part. He was born tongue tied but they fixed that right away in the hospital. So that made nursing a little painful in the first few days. But the lactation consultants have been super supportive and all is well - aside from some ugly nipples. The girls are so interested in everything about their baby brother. Especially the fact that he has no teeth. They want to hold him and give him toys. He is a great eater and sleeper - giving us 5-8 hour stretches at night. I just hope that sticks and its not just newborn sleepiness. Overall it was such a different experience from having the girls. That was so chaotic with a long drawn out induction, a million people there for the delivery and a fabulous postpartum hemorrhage all ending with two babies in the NICU. This was so calm and relaxed. Both were great memories that I wouldnt trade for anything. There's my story.

Congratulations! I'm only surprised you could go out to lunch because when my water broke (first time it broke on its own not in the hospital), it was like Niagra Falls! lol. I'm glad everything is going well for you! Hope the sleep continues! You'll have us all jealous!
