Hi all. We had a good appt. today. The doc does an unofficial ultrasound with her old machine to make sure she knows she is looking at each baby's heart beat rather than the same baby twice. One was 160bpm, and the other 162. I am wondering (out of curiousity) if any of you have b/g twins and both babies heartrates were around the same each time? I am praying for b/g twins and am really curious on feedback.

Other than that, all is fine. According to her scales, I've gained a total of 5lbs. My scales show a much lower number (closer to 1.5 lbs) but I am okay with that. Not that I am concerned either way. I am just glad I haven't already packed on a lot of weight because I am sure my numbers will be going up and up and up. I told her I get terribly out of breath walking up our staircase and I get heartflutters and she wasn't surprised and said my BP was good, as was the sound of my breathing and heartbeat. So, outside of sensitive skin and eczema issues, all is good!

I have my anatomy scan scheduled for 2/12! I can't wait!

They just told me yesterday that mine are boy/girl. Their heartbeats have been really close from the beginning. Now they are about 20 beats different. This has just changed during the last 4 weeks. You still have a chance! What do you think they are? When I was told at my last u/s that they were both boys, I was completely suprised. I really thought they were going to be boy/girl. From before I even knew it was twins, I had a feeling I was having twins and they would be one of each. My youngest DD, had the same feeling. I was suprised when she told me. Anyhow, over the last month I got use to the idea of two boys, now I have to get back to the boy/girl thing!

Good luck, and I wouldn't worry too much about your weight. My trip to the Peri yesterday proved that. He told me not to worry about weight gain unless you are underweight. He said that babies have a way of getting what they need from mom. Just eat healthy for your own sake! I have only gained 6 pounds since I got pregnant with the twins. I was concerned considering.

I am with you as far as the out of breath issues and I gave up walking upstairs at 16 weeks. (I live in a 1 story home, but I go to college and decided to begin taking the elevator, as the stairs were getting to be too much work... I think this being pg #5 has something to do with it.

The heartflutters are probably one or both of the twins. Mine do that too! When I saw them yesterday they were both head down and all 4 feet were sticking straight up! It feels so funny when I take a breath in and feel them moving!

My oldest DD has eczema and I she uses Eucerin or Cortisone 10 plus healing. Seems to help with the dry skin, flaking and itching! Hope something I said helped!! Good luck!

One other bit of info... my next u/s with Peri is 2/12 too! That is so cool. I can't wait either... isn't it so much fun to see those little ones?

Early on mine were relatively close. But after 17w, my boy's was always in the 140's and my girl's in the 160's.

Tammy, actually I feel my own heart flutter. I've had the issue since I was a teen. I was told then that I had anxiety - but I really think it is a murmur. My mom has had one all of her life and she's had the same problems. I'm not too concerned except I know that twins take a big pull on your vascular system.

And also, I was told that my DS was a girl and I NEVER really believed them. They told me about 6w before birth that it was a boy. I am not so sure on this PG - I FEEL like it is b/g but fear has me thinking it is G/G. I can't see me with twin girls. OH MY LAWD! I think I am a much better mommy for boys than girls - and the fear of having twin girls is real fear for me. But in the long run, I will be happy as long as they are healthy!

My DS also has eczema. I've actually been putting Mary Kay Extra Emollient Night Cream on his butt cheeks for a while now because they have been so red and sad looking - which happened last winter, too. It REALLY helps. I just didn't know I had eczema on my breast (which is where it is) - I thought it was a fungus. She suggest hydrocortisone and that is what I will try. I just hate that it is on my breast - makes me embarassed when I take my shirt off around DH! Heck, he doesn't care - as long as he gets to see "the girls" he is thrilled ;) LOL

    Thanks ladies!

My boy and girl twins only have a 5-10 bpm difference. I will be getting another ultrasound next week so they will confirm the gender again. They told me it was a boy and girl at the 18 week ultrasound.

Before we knew the genders, their heartrates were both very similar and high (160s). Since then though, the girl's has always been a little higher, but keep in mind they vary so much depending on their movement (mine are boy-girl :)).

I am 31 wks with boy girl twins and before I found out the sexes the heart rates were always @ the same! I thought for sure I was having two little girls!

My b/g twins heatbeats were both 165 at 8 weeks, 170 at 12 weeks, 160 at 16 weeks, 155 and 153 at 19 weeks (which is when we found out for sure), and 154 and 152 at 23 weeks. Because they were so high and close together I really thought we were having two girls, but as it turns out that really is an old wives tale. Good luck and enjoy your babies.

My boy and girl have had almost the same heartrate at every single ultrasound and doppler check -- usually within about 5 bpm. I have had a *lot* of ultrasounds, and when I was in the hospital the nurses checked with the doppler twice a day, and every single time their heartrates have been almost the same. No doubt about their positions, either.

I think mine were similar most of the time.

I believe that heart rate has NOTHING to do with gender and is not an indicator at all.

Mine are b/g and the heart rates were the same until last ob visit on the 8th, they were a little more apart.

As Tammy said, I also knew it was twins before I went in and confirmed I was pregnant at 5 weeks. I also knew it was a b/g although my sister hoped for 2 girls (so my nephew would remain the only grandson) and my friends hoped for boys... but I got the best of both worlds and daddy got his little girl.

My next appt is on tues 22nd, 28 weeks. This has been a pretty rough pregnancy thus far but it also seemed to fly by at the same time... still have the last stretch to go.

good luck and I hope you get what you wish for.

My boy/girl twins had almost identical heartrates until just the last few weeks and I am 37.3 weeks.

I was told I was having 2 boys via cvs test. I knew in my heart it wasn't right. Their h/r's were always around the same (I was pg with quads and all four were withing a 10 bpm difference). At my 18 week sono I asked them to please double check the genders bc I really felt one was a girl. Their h/r were about 20bpm difference and I told her one had to be a girl, she told me old wives tale (having already had a boy and a girl, I knew it was just an old wives tale but it did prove to be true for my other two so I still believe!). Then sure enough baby b is a girl...I just knew it. I found that in the beginning their h/r can vary so much but for me at all of my big anatomy scans is when the h/r was low for boy and high for girl (I know just a coincidence...but worked for all of my 4!)

My twins heartrates were ALWAYS between 10-20bpm apart with the exception of only a very small number of times. (I rented a doppler so check OFTEN! lol) I was sure at least one (specifically baby A) was a boy and everyone else was 100% positive that we were, without a doubt, having one of each. Well yesterday we went for our ultrasound and - SURPRISE! Baby A was not the boy that my mother's intuition told me - 110% aaallll girl! So on to Baby B and guess what?!? Another 110% AAAALLL GIRL! So we are having two girls and I think I'm still in shock. LOL I have come to find that I no longer believe in heartrates, cravings, pg symptoms and not even mother's intuition anymore! hahaha Keep us updated!!!!!

I have boy/girl twins and they have never been the same (one is usually 140's and other is 160's). I agree with pp above. I don't think heart rate has anything to do with it either...but one can still hope :)

I'm having B/G twins. Early on their HB's were very close. At one appt they were the exact same. My dr said he'd never seen that before. (It was on u/s as well so we knew it wasn't the same HB twice) now they are usually one in the 140's and one in the 150's or so.

I don't believe that heartrate really has anything to do with gender.
    Good luck to you!
