I had a big time scare this evening. It all happened so fast. I was at my parents' house, it was just my mom and I. I was getting the bath ready and Bea was in with me, Ainsley was with my mom cleaning up from dinner. Then I am undressing Bea when Ainsley comes into the bathroom and seconds later, she fell head first into the tub! I didn't even see it happen, I just heard it and grabbed her out. I screamed, Bea was screaming, Ainsley was crying. She still had a green bean in her mouth from dinner, which I just saw something in her mouth and that freaked me out too. My mom had gone to get their pajamas and didn't know Ainsley had wandered into the bathroom. I am just so lucky that I was able to grab her that quick. If I had stepped out of the bathroom and she was in there unattended, who knows what could have happened. So, new rule is NO KIDS in the bathroom until the bath is ready, and I am undressing them out of the bathroom.

Poor thing, I'm so happy shes alright. This is actually one of my big fears and I refuse to leave the bathroom once I turn the water on.

Yikes! Don't beat yourself up, though. Sarah fell headfirst into a full bathtub when they were about 13 months old. DH and I were both right there, but we didn't realize she could get up on her tiptoes far enough to overbalance. We fished her out and then turned our heads for one second and she immediately did it again! So if we were ever tempted to leave the bathroom even for a second (which we haven't been), now we certainly won't be! But still, we figure as long as someone is in there to fish them out right away, it won't actually hurt them that much if they go underwater for a second.

Yipes! That is scary. I'm glad she was OK and you were right there. I've had Lilly fall head-first into a dry tub, while I was, um..."busy" in the room, but I'm always scared of them falling in while it is filling/draining.

Ellie hasn't 'fallen' into the tub...she 'climbs' into the tub. Hands on the ledge, little foot bent at the kneee, leg out to the side. She hasn't made it yet, but she will. My rule too: Bathroom door closed if no adult present. She'll also climb on the stool the other 2 use to brush their teeth. No bathroom for Ellie!!

Glad everyone is OK. :hug99: I had this happen to me on separate occasions with each of my little ones. They would lean so far over the tub, before I put them in (I was usually getting the other one undressed) to grab a toy or whatever and in they went! It sure is scary how fast things can happen...

Jazzy can get in and out of the tub on her own(I guess because her legs are so long!). The only problem is she tries to get in with her clothes on or when she gets out she slips on the wet floor

Poor thing! I had Martin do that once. I was getting Ali undressed and he pulled up on the side of the tub and over and in SPLASH he went. I ran in and got to him in a split second, but it did happen very very fast!!

How scary! I'm glad she is okay. My Ainsley did something similar at that age. Sierra was getting a bath and Ainsley came in while I was doing something next to the bath tub. I heard a splash, turned around, and she was sitting in the tub with her clothes on reaching for some the toys that Sierra was playing with. Thankfully, she knew how to put herself into seated position.

It's a reflex for them to hold their breath so as long as you're there to fish them out they won't do any real damage. As scary as it is, it's bound to happen so don't beat yourself up over it. I would suggest, though, that you try to hide your fear when it does happen or they may develop a fear of the bathtub.
