Ive read about how a lot of you take your kids to gymboree classes...but what are those? Is it expensive? Is there a membership?

I would like to take the boys to that kind of stuff because they dont have any other kids around to play with....I want to get them out with some other kids and have some fun....I'd love to know about these classes..

We have a Gymboree (there is also MyGym, LittleGym and a few others) by us. It is SOOO much fun!
They have classes for different age groups. It was pretty dang expensive for a 'membership/enrollment' but I think I would do a drop-in if they allow them (I forgot to ask).
Most of these places have a first class for free to see if you and the kids like it :good:

The classes sound pretty neat, if you look on the gymboree website you can get more info about the different classes they offer. The problem is with Gymboree you have to have a 1 to 1 ratio; if you want to bring both of your twins you'll need a second person to go with you. And it is pretty expensive so for us it wasn't worth it.

This is also my hangup with Gymboree....MyGym however allow 1 parent to two babies/toddlers AND their assistants help you! I demoed a class last week and they were terrific and friendly! I think mine are still a little too young for gym class but I can't wait to do it with them soon!

I haven't done anything like this because its expensive, but it looks like a lot of fun for the kids (from what I've seen on their website).

I just went yesterday to one nearby b/c a friend w/twins went last week and signed up.

#1 our location did a summer special enroll one child get the 2nd free (they did honor this, but when I called to give the lady my cc number b/c I'd forgotten my purse - the lady was surprised that I was getting such a good deal - usually its just 50% off the 2nd child)

#2 during June/July you can do to all age appropriate classes within the section you sign up for during the week... usually you sign up for just ONE class.

Other things about it, ours is a big room with LOTS of things to crawl on and climb and then the "teacher" brought out new things and explained the tactile parts about it. I get the feeling that each class is different... and yesterday's class was all about tactile. The group part was in the beginning and then the end where we sat in a circle and did things with the kids... while singing little songs. The parachute part is really fun. Yes, with just me there one twin didn't get all the bells & whistles... the teacher tried to take one sometimes to show what to do, but then when they wanted down she'd pick up her clown again to demonstrate.

Oh, and there are specific Open Gym times where there's no teacher and you can go enjoy the open room for play time.

Prices - I don't see how anyone can afford it normally!

Ours is $59/mo for normally 1 class a week. For the summer there are 3 in our age group yet I can only make 2 of them... but then we also have the open gym parts. There was a $35 fee to sign up but if you sign up on the "first day free" you get $20 off of that. So for the 1st month I paid $74 and then I'll keep it up next month if it works for $59. Then I think I'll have to quit b/c I don't think that I'll be doing $90... I also think that for us it should be getting a little cooler ?? and maybe we can go back out and enjoy the parks again.

That was a lot of info, what I should have said was just go and ask for a preview class and see if you'll like it. But I would ask ahead of time if they offer any summer deals b/c this might be the time to join if you want. I haven't checked out My Gym or any others. good luck.

I think the website is www.gymboreeclasses.com

we were members for 7 months, starting when the boys were 6 months adjusted (the classes were actually paid for by our ei program!). i didn't resign w/them because we were already in another class when it ended, and always having to round up someone to help me was getting hard twice/week. gymboree is pretty affordable. it comes out to $15 per class but you can also go to free gym a few times/week.

we'll either go back there or start w/mygym, which, as a pp said, does not require another adult. also, they work on specific skills. what i like about gymboree is all the music and stuff. we have one of their cd's and mommy loves it;).

my parenting class teacher said that gym classes are more improant than anything else. she really likes mygym.

    gl!

Not all require a 1:1 parent child ratio. I take my boys alone to gymboree, and no one has ever made a comment. Granted there are a few activities that we modify because I can't lift both up into the air at the same time, but mostly its fine and they really enjoy it.

My Gymboree doesn't require a 1:1 ratio either. They gave me a twin discount and we can attend all classes within our age group and the music class, plus, the open gym times which unfortunately don't work due to our nap schedule. My two love it. I have found it way more reasonable than Little Gym. Little Gym was crazy expensive and the activities seemed way over their skill level. I don't think we have a My Gym in our area but I did check out the other two and I'm thrilled so far with Gymboree. They change the setting every two weeks so they keep it fresh and new.

I did Gymboree with my oldest DD, but we don't have that here anymore, thanks to My Gym and The Little Gym. I took the twins to My Gym right when they turned 2 and they LOVED it. My Gym offers a 50% discount off the 2nd twins price and that is really nice. I really felt taking my two to My Gym, gave them the confidence to climb and master lots of new skills on the equipment and it gave me the confidence that they could do those things alone, since I could not constantly follow both of them around by myself.
