Guess Who -- a mini rant

Both my before and after school groups are currently in love with the game Guess Who. My rant (and the kids too actually) is that out of the 30 characters, only 5 are women! If you draw a woman (I make them draw, not look and pick) and the first question is "Is your person a man?" or "Is your person a woman?" the game is pretty much over. Very frustrating.

Another thing, I would be interested in seeing studies about how long a board can stay intact after being played with. The flippy things are forever falling out! I've taped the people cards in them to stop them from flying. (no one seriously puts each flipper up individually do them?)

 

My kids all like the guess who? game but I got them Guess Who? Extra. It had the original card but also has a lot of other cards like animals and monsters and appliances. It makes it a lot more challenging.

 

We never allowed the man/woman question.

 

How old is your game? Naomi and Luke have a Guess Who? that they got for christmas and the men/women are pretty equal (haven't actually counted them), Alyssa and Bryony have a store version (called Who's Who?) with 24 people and there are 12 of each sex-I counted today while they were playing.

 

Could you make your own? Take pics of all the kids, staff, parents and then print them out thumbnail sized and tape them on dominoes. I bet the kids would love that.

 

Of course, when you talk about a game what happens? Its totally out. We're all about Connect 4 now. When it comes back into vogue I think I'll make a no gender question rule.

We got the game over Christmas. I usually do a "make your own game" theme in May, we usually end up doing a board game, but I think I'll do the guess who game this year.
