Just wondering when my OB is going to do my GTT test and the labs for anemia etc....... When I was pregnant with my son I had already done 2 GTT's by now due to my PCOS. I was also anemic with my son and am feeling like it's starting again with this pregnancy. Should I just ask my OB do them now or wait? My care has been so different with this pregnancy. Thanks ladies :bubble:
I would definitely ask your OB at your next appointment. If you are feeling anemic already, start eating lots of iron-rich foods and cooking with a cast-iron skillet before that appointment. It can only help.
I think I had the GTT at 28 weeks and again at 31 weeks. . .Do they prick your finger in the office each time to check your hemoglobin?
I've never had my finger pricked, they don't do much at my appointments other than urine, weight and vitals.
I had my GTT at 27 weeks as well as labs for anemia and antigen (since I am rh- ) I began to feel very tired about 25ish weeks and thought it could be anemia so I started to take an iron supplement which helped a lot. I didn't even wait for the blood tests, when I did have them they were normal. I continue to take them and have not had any issue with nausea or constipation. I was comfortable starting the supplements before my appointment ans my OB knows me and was fine with it as well, however, if you are not comfortable moving forward with out your OB ok then call them or ask at your next appointment. They can also re test your thyroid, which can make you very tired as well if it is off.
