Wow, things can turn on you soo fast. I am 31.4 weeks preg with g/g twins. Just got put on bedrest and found out one of my girls has IUGR. She only weighs 2 lbs 5 oz. So hopefully bedrest will help her along. Doctor said they will probably schedule c-section at 34 weeks! So now that Im in a panic to be ready, all I can do is lay in bed! DH has stepped up to the plate, Im soo lucky, in fact he just set me up with this lap top so I a can keep up with this forum. Oh, by the way, Im not too new here, I used to be M&MMom, but couldn't retrieve my password so I just re-registered. Does anyone else here have the same problem with their twins? I hope not but if you do I'm curious to find out if there is anything else I can do otherthan rest? Thanks.

You can probably PM Craig to see if he can help you retrieve your password to go back to your old username if you would like.

Sorry you are going through this. Keep resting, that is what is best.

I'm on bedrest to help with growth issues (and TTTS) for my twins. I've been on bedrest since 18 weeks and the girls have continued to grow on their own growth curve! I think the important thing is to stay horizontal as much as you can to improve blood flow to the uterus. Also, I drink 3 high protein boost drinks a day, to boost protein intake. Also, drink lots of water and make sure you get enough calories! It can work! Keep us updated - I'm sending growth vibes your way!

Jenny,Thank you for the good advice. Just ran out of ensures, I was only drinking one a day. Going to send DH out for more, alot more. (they're sooo expensive though!) I feel kindof guilty just laying here, but it's probably the most important thing I've ever done? Can I ask you what your twins weight's are? It's a scary thing huh? Mine are 2.5 and 3.1 at 30 weeks. Baby b is below the 5% centile : (.

Make sure you get the high protein ones! I drink the ones that have at least 15g of protein. I know they're a lot of calories - but now that you're on bedrest - eat lots and drink lots and gain lots of weight in the name of your babies! Right now, think of yourself as an incubator. You have the most important job - keeping your babies in the womb, and growing. It takes a lot of energy to "make people!"

Get yourself some good TV series to watch or something! I'm trying to enjoy my last few minutes of peace and napping when I want now, because those times will be ending soon.

Oh, and at 28 weeks, my twins were 1lb15ounces and 2lb 5ounces. So, they're above 10th percentile now, so we're not worrying about IUGR for the moment. (I do have a 2 vessel cord on the smaller baby - so we're automatically worried about IUGR). They're small - but our peri showed us their growth curve, and they are getting bigger at the same rate, which is important, rather than the actual percentile, too! We get growth scans every two weeks. We'll get another next week... At 27w5d, our bigger twin measured 27w and the smaller 26w.

    Keep me posted!

My babies are like a 1lb difference so I was worried about growth issues. I ended up talking to my step sister who had b/g twins with major growth issues. She was always below the 5% for Baby B and Baby A fell down to the 5% at the end- around 34 weeks. They decided to do a C-section at 34 weeks when Baby A fell to 5% since he was usually much higher. In the end, the twins are now 6 sixs old and the most adorable little kids. They're fine.

Thats always good to hear....thank you/

Jenny-sounds like you are doing a good job getting there weights up. My peri is going to wait to do a growth scan until my 34 week mark, if they are not getting out of the low percentile he will do a c-section, so I hope this bedrest helps and makes a difference. I am try to eat as much as I can, more protein too. At the same time Im getting so nervouse, they might be here sooner than I had thought. OMG!

I must say, thank god for this site, it really keeps me occupied. :)

    Hey Jenny and MM!
We discovered we had IUGR issues at 28 wks. From that point forward, Baby B (Annika) was in the 5%tile or below. Ainsley wasn't much better. We had bi-weekly peri appts and weekly NSTs to keep an eye on things, and on the lookout for TTTS although our fluid was always ok. To this day, not sure what it was, although my OB still thinks it was TTTS.

Anyway, it was a terrible emotional roller coaster. I ate as much as possible, but the way my peri described it was with an analogy of a grocery store; I was like the warehouse, filling up with tons of food, but the 'drivers' were on strike and not delivering the food to the store, so there was nothing for the customers to buy. In other words, eating a lot of calories is important, but at some point there's not much you can do.

At 35 wks I was developing pre-e and the babies were falling off the charts, so we all (OB, Peri, and DH and I) decided they were better off out than in. I'd had a round of steroids. We delivered by c/s.

My website with journal entries and lots of pics is in a link below; the good news is, after 3wks in NICU as growers/feeders, I now have 2 perfectly healthy, but little, baby girls.

You can PM me anytime if you want; but hang in there and STAY IN BED! :hug99:

That is so funny, that's exactly how my peri explained it to me, except he used doors opening and closing alot? So I know I don't have to gorge myself, just keep eating healthy, and mainly drinking a ton of water (and trying to up the protein.) Thanks for your story, that is encouraging. My ob seems to keep bringing up ttts too, but I don't think it could be that, they each have there own placenta, and seperate sacs.? I hate to think of leaving the hospital with out them, but I will deal with that when I get there. Thanks again......and how do you PM?? Im clueless...
