Grocery shopping - made to feel like a freak...

One of our local grocery stores has baby food on sale for half price. It's a really good deal so I bought about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks worth plus a few bottles of a handful each of new things for us to try. I admit it looked like alot even to me. And I am not even sure where exactly in my pantry it is going to fit. But given how much baby food they are eating, and how much it normally costs I couldn't pass it up.

When I went to the checkout both the people in front of me and the person behind me as well as the cashier, the sacker, and the 2nd sacker that got called over because "this lady bought out all the baby food" made comments that were really kinda rude. I felt like such a freak.

I did that too a couple of times. Earths Best was 1/2 price and I went crazy. Sorry you felt like a freak for being practical.

I am sorry that the workers were rude.

I hate when workers, talk about you, right in front of you. :blbl:

You have every right to buy whatever you like.

I would call and talk to the manager.

I am sure that you are not the first person to plan ahead when the store is having a really good sale. Some people are just rude. I feel like this when I buy formula and I have a ton of it in the cart. You are not the freak, they are, they don't know how to behave in public. I would just chalk it up to ignorance and enjoy your great deal.

I stock up on the baby stuff we need for a two week period every payday at Target. I get 2 boxes of diapers, 6 cans of formula, a box of wipes, and about 30 containers of baby food. I feel ridiculous and always get comments made my way, usually not rude though. But I usually bring the babies, so it helps take the attention off me and my cart, or it at least helps explain why my cart looks the way it does. Employees or even random customers ask if I need help pushing my cart, bringing my bags out to the car, some lady stopped and gave me her coupons. I also often throw in random coupons - like I got luvs diapers, but only had a pampers coupon so I threw it in, and they usually don't question me because I've got so much stuff and my hands full. So sometimes shopping in bulk has its advantages, but it probably helps when you've got the babies with you to take all the attention off you and your cart!

I would be really annoyed though if people around me actually acted irritated. As stressful as outings like these are sometimes, I don't know that I could have bit my tongue.

I would have done the same thing! It is hard not to let other's comments get to us, but try not to. People are just rude and don't know any better LOL

You don't sound like a freak to me, you sound like a smart shopper :good:

The cashier probably was just being lazy!

I've stocked up before. Don't feel bad! It's a very wise thing to do IMO . I hope they're more pleasant next time.

Oh, I must be PMSing or something because I started getting burned up just reading this. If someone had the nerve to say something to me, I'd probably go all passive-aggressive and stand there after they'd finished ringing me up and give them a play-by-play of getting out of the house with twinfants.

"...and would you believe, just as soon as I got him into his carseat, he pooped, and we had to start all over again..."
