Kaylyn has started grinding her teeth quite a bit? Does this mean anything or is it normal? Should I call the pedi?

My boys were doing that this week and last but the only time they do it is when they are sick. Go figure.
Very annoying I can tell you that. No advice on if you should call or not. I asked a friend of mine that works for a dentist and she said at this age its normal and there is really nothing you can do about it anyway as they are to young for a mouth gaurd.

Both of mine used to grind their teeth - it was the most aweful noise. They were probably around the same age. They don't do it anymore. I am thinking that it is a stage that they go through and hopefully move out of it quickly. For reassurance, you can call the pedi, but I don't think that there is anything that they will do/recommend than to just ignore it.

My DS is doing this right now too. I keep meaning to call the dentist about it, but I don't think they will actually do anything at this point.

My DS is doing it. Since I do it also, I figured it was just hereditary. Hadn't planned on doing anything, since my dentist doesn't get worked up over me.

I've got a grinder! <_< Angie grinds her teeth. I posted about it a few weeks ago and a member did post saying that they took their kid to the dentist but they won't do anything at this age for it. So, I hope it passes by quickly for you! It is very annoying.

Yes I remember a post about this a couple months or so ago. . My daughter (almost 4) grinds her teeth when shes sleeping. I asked her pedi about it at her 3 yr check up and they said she is too young to do anything about it. they wont give them the teeth gaurd b/c there is a risk of swallowing it, and 'they are only baby teeth'. The nurse who sees my kids regularly said they wont even give her 7 yr old anything.

(My DD inherited this wonderful habit from her daddy)

My girls have done this from time to time. Bad mom here  I used to say "no no honey, we don't do that" when they would do it. But honestly, it's because it was like fingernails on a chalkboard for me.

Mine will have a couple of days of grinding their teeth and then they just stop. I can't stand the sound of it either.

DD went through it and it was a phase. The more we mentioned it to her, the more she did it. We ignored it and it went away.

  Guilty here too. :pardon: It was annoying me so I tried to have her stop. Like Jackie said, the more I asked the more she did it. It was like I was reminding her to do it more?? She still does it but less if I don't say anything.
