Green ooze

Starting the beginning of last week my girls started a green runny nose. I didn't really think much of it due to my new part time employment at a day care. By the end of the week, in the morning their eyes were a little crusted with green ooze. I looked online and it said it could be a few things, pink eye (which WebMD indicated could have been cause by the dry, dusty conditions they were exposed to the prior weekend or a virus, which I hadn't noticed anyone at daycare being sick), or if they had a cold and had been coughing, sometimes the gunk will cone out their eyes as well, so I didn't worry to much. Yesterday morning one of Gracie's eyes was completely gooed shut in the morning and it was all puffy and swollen. Once she woke up and we got her eye open, they swelling and redness went away. This morning, the eyes weren't nearly as gooey as they have been but their coughs seem to be getting worse.

So, I guess what I am getting at is, can the doctor even do anything for them, or do you think it sounds like everything is just running its course? I am going to call the doctors office as soon as they open this morning, I just wanted to try to get some opinions before hand.

Yeah, it sounds exactly like what my poor little guys have been going through these past few weeks. Same thing with eyes completely gunked up, and a cold ... I took Con in because his eye was so bad, it was infected with pinkeye and he had a double ear infection. Chase also got pinkeye and an ear infection. She gave drops for Chase's eyes (since she couldn't diagnose his ear infection without seeing him, I had to bring him in later in the week), and antibiotics for the ear infections. So either way, there is stuff the doc can give them.
Let us know what happens! :) Poor babies ... Funny you posted this, Chase woke up with gunky eyes too and DH complained his eye is red and hurts ... I guess we are going around again with the pinkeye. Yuk.

Sounds like a sinus/eye infection. I would definately take them in.

Sometimes when there is gunk coming out of the eye, it can also mean an ear infection. That is what I was told by our ped's.

Yeah, you'll want to take them in! Let us know how it goes! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's no big deal.

I agree with the others -- get them in to see the doctor. Hope it's nothing and that they feel better soon!
