I have posted a few times because I was worried I might be mono mono after my 7 week ultrasound. I had been calling the nurse nervously the past week asking questions and she talked to my sonographer today and said she wanted me to come right over and she was going to do another ultrasound (this being 8 weeks) and said she didnt think there was anything to worry about and hated seeing me so worried. So when I got to there she did another ultrasound this time transvaginal and right away I saw two amniotic sacs! I was so relieved that I didnt have to wait an entire month to find out. Thanks to all who had encouraging words for me. Also I only had one yolk sac so that does not always determine amniocity in case anyone else might be worried like I was! God Bless!

Yay for some relief, congrats!! :D

Do you mean they didn't do a transvag at 7 wks?? I'm shocked, abdominal's aren't accurate until 10/12 wks or so! No wonder they couldn't see anything!

That is EXACTLY what I was going to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why in the WORLD would they do an abdominal ultrasound on you THAT EARLY anyway?!!!!!!!!!!

That kind of worries me right there! EEKS!

I would absolutely discount ANY information that an abdominal u/s gave you that early. I'm sure you had 2 yolk sacs to begin with and who knows.. they're probably fraternal!

Do you have two placentas too?

Chances are much greater that you had two yolks to begin with and NOT that you had one and they're in their own sac-- that is nearly unheard of and given the circumstances of the ultrasound, I'd be willing to bet that you had two yolks and the abdominal didn't pick it up.

At any rate, CONGRATS to you!

Do you have an ultrasound pic to share with us?

I would say a big HUGE "YES" to his question. Not a good sign AT ALL that they did abdominal!! If you do indeed have mono-di twins, you'll need to be seeing someone else FOR SURE. But at this point, I'd be wondering what kind of info they've given you.

I'd look into some other Perinatologists in your area for sure!!
