Not sure if your one year olds are nosy rosies like mine. We have two floor level cabinets where we store extra plastic bags and pots and pans, our twosome are utterly fascinated with these cabinets and their contents. DH wanted to get cabinet locks that he would not have to screw in to the cabinets, so the cabinets wouldn't be ruined.
    He ordered these magnetic ones:

They work great!!! Just thought I would make the recommendation in case anyone was on the hunt for some cabinet locks:)

We have similar ones that I got from Babies R Us. I like that they didn't have to be screwed in, and they are easy to use. We did lose the magnet once (it accidentally was put into the shut cabinet) but they sell individual magnet keys too.
It is kind of a pain constantly getting the key out when cooking dinner, cleaning, etc....

I agree! We have these and love them other than the inconvenience of having to grab a key all the time. You can't really open with one hand.

We also have these on some of our drawers and while they are $$$ for what they do, they are really high quality and have worked well. Our drawers are made of a material that can't be screwed into easily, and I have bad joints in my hands... since I do the childproofing around here, it's worth it to me.

I have the adhesive magnetic locks but am not that happy with them. They seemed great at first but after a few months some started falling off if the kids tugged too hard on them. Others are still attached but the latch seems to have fallen out of alignment with the lock so it no longer stays closed. Plus they are expensive! We still have some functional ones on some cabinets, but I'm tired of replacing the ones that break or fall off, so I'm not sure I would recommend these too highly.
