    Hi ladies,

My MIL has many good friends who have decided to throw her a "grandma shower." Anyone else heard of this??? Well of course I'm invited, and I guess I need to bring her a gift...just seems funny to me. I have no idea what to get her - any suggestions? I'm on bedrest, so it has to be something that my hubby can pick up for me, or I can order online. The invitation says I'm registered at Target, so I'm wondering how many people are going to buy her things off my registry! We live in the same town, and it just seems funny that she's getting things I registered for, for her. I adore her, and she's a bit confused by the whole thing as well, but is flattered her friends want to do this.

We did this too and it was really just an excuse for a baby shower for the babies. It was primarily my friends but Stephanie was really the guest of honor. We put on the invites that she was registered at Target.

    I've never heard of this.

You could get her a cute "Grandma of Twins" shirt or apron or something (so that you are buying her something rather than yourself). I think cafepress.com has some.

My mom's friends and coworkers did this for her. Except the gifts were for both her and me--we had to decide who kept what!!! She kept a few blankets and toys, but I got all the rest. Like Lindy said, I was the guest of honor more or less.

Assuming she lives close and will have the kids often, she will want/need a pack n play, maybe a travel swing, or even looking ahead some booster feeding chairs.

most likely it is her friend's way of being part of the experience, i'm sure the gifts are for you but they can get together and celebrate. I agree, get her a apron or something grandma.

What about a special charm, necklace, or maybe a "Grandma" picture frame?

I'm about to be a grandma for the first time and I'm not having a "grandma shower", but I did have a friend who had one given for her. Guests brought gifts that my friend could use when she kept her granddaughter Mikayla at her house, especially books and toys.

    Have fun!

I love the idea of a special charm, necklace or grandma picture frame...also fun "grandma t-shirts", or a special set of books that she can keep at her house for when the babies go there. I also saw an adorable bib at BRU yesterday: Dial 1-800-Grandma.

You could get her Chicken Soup for the Grandmother's Soul or a picture frame for twins. They have cute frames at Babies R Us (and on their site).

    HI,
My mom's friends did it for her, too, when my brother had a son. It was kind of cool b/c she lives only 10 minutes away and she got a lot of stuff so they didn't have to tote things back and forth. From what I can tell, the toys are a hit (for all ages) + a toy chest/basket so it's easy clean up. Then you don't have to bring stuff over there. Also, she has a highchair and got a bouncy seat at the shower - very helpful early on. Also, it's helpful if you're particular about some stuff (certain types of bottles, etc). It makes it easier to have her babysit.
HOpe that helps - but it can be fun, try to just go w/ it - no matter what the babies win! [IMG]
