DD has bought a couple of sippie cups but neither baby liked them. There are so many kinds out there, does anyone have a favorite or a suggestion for the first bottle to sippie transition? If so, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!

It was Nuby all the way for the first sippy. We graduated to "any sippy will do" about six months after that.

Mine love the Nuby's. They have a sports top that has a longer nipple, kind of like a bottle, and that really helped them get the hang of it. Now they can drink out of whatever kind I give them.

Nuby ones were the only ones the girls would drink out of at first. It took them a couple of months and will now drink out of anything. You can get them fairly inexpensive too like $1.75 at some of the stores.

Mine did not like the Nuby ones, but really did like the First Years ones.

We tried many but it was the playtex with the handles that we ended up with.

The Nuby kind with soft spouts is what we started with - they were like $1 at Walmart. I loved them since they didn't have valves, however oldest DD learned how to pinch the spout together when she got older and would pour the liquid out of it to play in. After that we switched to Gerber brand with hard spouts and valves.

I have tried a few different kinds and found that the boys preferred the Nuby sippies with the soft spout as well.

Initially we did best with the Playtex cups with handles, but they used to have a soft spout (now they've gone to a hard spout). However, the trick that helped me the most was taking the valve out of the cup, but putting a piece of tape over the air hole (on the opposite side of the lid from the spout). This made it much easier for them to get the milk out, but not so easy that it spilled all over the place. Once they got the hang of it we started using the valves.

I didn't like the Gerber cups because if they're dropped on a hard surface, the valve tends to pop out and then they milk pours out.

Mine do well with the Playtex with handles. Also, all Playtex sippies (all sizes, stages) use the same valves, so that's nice down the road...and you can buy replacement valves so you don't have to buy a whole new cup....

Mine just stuck their fingers in the spout of the Nuby causing it to have a big hole and leak everywhere! They finally took to the Gerber soft spout trainers. Sometimes it just takes time trying different brands. A friend of mine had a tough time with her daughter and she finally found the Dr. Brown's sippy cup worked for her. That's the bottle the twins were on, but they didn't have sippies when we converted. Now they drink out of anything.

We are using the Nubys now. We tried some of the harder spouts and my guys could not get the hang of it. The Nubys are much like nipples with them being soft so they worked great!!
