    Ladies:
We made it to one year. And it was great fun.

That first year was tough. I know we still have a ways to go, but I wanted to say thanks for all of the support and insights over the last year.

    Here is what I learned:

It gets easier. It really does.
You get happier as they get happier.
Yes. The weight comes off. Slowly. But it does.
Relax. Really. Be casual. Twins start off slow sometimes but the rocket forward.
A happy baby makes a happy household.
If your baby wants to be held, HOLD THE BABY. Because pretty soon...they don't want to be held.
    It goes so fast.
    Take lots of baths.
    Eat good foods.
    Save your energy.
    Ignore people who irritate you.
    Take good care of yourself.
Don't be afraid to put yourself first sometimes.
It's OK if a baby is crying. Don't take it personally.

I don't want to do it over. But I loved the moments I was doing it. And when things are really, really hard...those nights when babies are crying and spouses are not responsive and you feel fat, alone, and tired and wonder when it will end....well....when you get on the other side of that night....and your babies are happy to see you....it's like love washes it all away.

Being a mother of twins is hard. And intense. If you're doing the best you can, that's better than most.

Enjoy....and be kind to yourself. Please. You deserve it.

Great post! I am also leaving the first year soon, and feeling a little nostalgic about it (ok, raging baby fever over here.. ) but it's amazing how much and how fast you learn everything in the first year. And twice as fast, because there's two of them!

Congratulations on your first year! And happy birthday to your babies!

Great thoughts! Congrats on the B-day! My twins are 9 months and I can't believe this year has flown by - I think it has something to do with the lack of sleep!!
