So I made up a registry with the bouncy seat I got at my shower on it and marked it off as purchased 2, waited a few days and went back to target....THEY TOOK IT BACK...I was in and out with the full price in a store credit in less than 5 minutes....seriously what a stupid policy!...I'll just make up registries everytime I need to return something there!...but anyway yay!!!=)

Now I'm disgusted with Baby Depot, at Burlington Coat Factory! So they offer a twin discount of 20% when you buy two of the same big item, including bedding sets. Well I thought this was great at first but then I was thinking about it, What big item do you really get two of? Besides highchairs and bassinets I dont plan to buy the exact same two of anything. I'll buy one Walket, one bouncer, and so on and rotate them. But i was thinking it would help bedding wise....WRONG...I was looking at the mod turtle mod ladybug sets.. same brand, same pattern, same everything except ones in blue and ones in pink....this equals...NO DISCOUNT...there not both exactly the same! Are you serious!....errr...so I said forget it I'll get it somewhere else, but then I was thinking....luckily there are about 4 Burlington Coat Factorys resonably close to me, I am going to go to one buy two pink get the discount...put away the reciept and go to another one and even exchange it (without the reciept showing the discount) and get the blue one. Thankfully there return policy isn't as bad as it was a few years ago so it should work but if not I'll just take em both back and start my search online for them at the same price....I get not giving the discount if your buying two completely different things ie a bouncer and a stationary gym..I mean then everyone would try to use it....but what person who is having one baby buys two crib sets in differnt colors! If I was having a girl I would be buying pink, if I was having a boy I'd be getting blue...I'm having both so I'm getting two!....If companies dont want to give the discount why have the policy?....Just like BRU who wont tell anybody about the policy unless you ask...If someone's checking out with two infant car seats chances are their having two babies...HELLO!

I don't think stores get it sometimes.

Glad you figured out how to get around Target's return policy. :good:

The only thing I can think of for why they make you have two of the EXACT same thing is to 1) make it more difficult to get the discount (obviously) and 2) because I suppose a mom who doesn't know what sex she is having could get a pink and blue set, get the discount and then return whatever color was "wrong" after she has the baby?

That said, I think that the return policies at stores are getting BEYOND ridiculous! With the economy as it is, you would think that they would want to have excellent customer service...and it is a constant battle. I had my baby shower last weekend and some people got me some things from Target, but didn't give me a gift receipt (I can tell because it's the Circo brand...and they only carry that at Target)...so, I'll have to be all sneaky and make a registry, etc. Stupid. Waste of my time...I don't want money back, I just want to exchange for something else, so it's not like they are losing money...and it's a Target Exclusive brand, so there's no risk that I actually got it somewhere else you know?

    Anyway, good luck!

I think it's more trying to get people to quit stealing. When I was in my teen years I knew people who would go in target, steal something small but expensive and then return it for store credit and go buy something like a car stereo. So us honest people get screwed because of stupid kids like that. That is also why Wal Mart has there new return thing where they have to do all the scanning at the door and put on the item what it is. Someone I knew (and these really were people I knew not me, lol) took in a bag of socks got the return sticker went to the back of the store picked up a dvd player took the sticker off the socks threw them down and put it on the dvd player. Went to customer service and said it didn't work and he wanted to exchange it. Got a dvd player for $6 (The cost of the socks, but his mom bought those for him so really cost him nothing.)
And when I worked at wal mart there was this one girl that would come in with all items under $10 (no id required under 10 and cash back) and would return them and get cash back. She was obviously stealing them from another wal mart and bringing them to mine. The managers told us to quit returning from her

It still irritates me when I can't return but 3 items a year at Wal Mart without a reciept and then not at all with out one for some places. But I do understand why they have had to make these policies like they have.

Like Kohls I always wondered how they know if someone comes in the store and picks up a shirt off the shelf and just walks back to the back with it and returns it for store credit? How do they keep people from doing that.

I recently bought 2 carseats at BRU (one pink, one charcoal, but otherwise exactly the same) and the cashier said normally they won't give the discount if they're not exactly the same but that she'd let it slide this time b/c she understood the whole boy/girl thing. I think it helped that a.) I had my kids with me and everyone in line was asking twin questions, and b.) the cashier herself had a twin brother!!

I agree. We got the same thing with BRU when asking for discounts on things too. Ugh..
