Got any good tricks

Emma has wised up to the antibiotics. She used to take motrin and tylenol no problem, but the dose she gets for the antibiotics is a lot more and now she just wiggles and spits it out (we have been using the syringe)

So I am wondering if anyone has any tricks that might get a little more in her and be a little less messy. Can you mix it in anything?

We celbrate taking meds here. I offer to:
1. Run around the house
2. Do the Happy dance
3. Sing their favorite song
4. Jump up and down.
The trick is to wait with your reward until after they swallowed or they'll spit it out laughing at you.

I use one of the medicine spoons and have had good luck with it. Mine are pretty good med takers, but my oldest used to be a fight. I would bribe him with M&Ms.

 

At that age, I would make a big deal about it by telling them it was candy. I would taste it and Oooo and Ahhh over it. After each squirt, we would give high-fives. Looked ridiculous but it worked for my girls!

 

can you let them try drinking from the medicine cup instead?
Cups were a big deal to my boys around that age.

 

At that age, I would give them the small drinkable yogurts, sqirt it in, shake and let them drink the yogurt through a straw. The loved the straw, and drank it right down.

 

I would put a squirt of whipped cream on the end of the syringe. My kids have their mommy's sweet tooth.

That trick still works around here when they drink meds out of a liquid measuring spoon thing.
