I'm almost welcome here, my older DD is turning two on the 19th DH's entire family is banging down to the door to buy us some new crap aka toys. I would love some suggestions on what a two year old girl will actually use and appreciate. She's getting a trike and a kitchen, I'm more asking about smaller ticket items. Thanks, Miriam
My daughter LOVES her toy vacuum, lawnmower, elmo guitar, water table, books, magnadoodle... trying to think what all we bought them for their birthday. they got one o those activity cubes with the beads and stuff when they tuned 1 but they like it alot more now than they did last year. They got a bigger playset for the yard. They love Little People- the barn, vehicles...Fisher Price Laugh & Learn stuff is a huge hit here. I just got them the Laugh and Learn Kitchen and they literally were immediately laughing while playing with it. I also just got a few Sit n Spins but they seem to prefer to use them as stools. we got them the radio flyer bigwheel trikes that start for age 2 and they are still too short for them. boo because they're over 90% for height!
My kids love leapfrog fridge phonics/animals, Legos, books. Other toys, they get tired of very quickly. H
I just bought the girls a large bucket of Mega Bloks and they LOVE them. They also love the Lego Duplo Blocks as well. My MIL got the girls that Sesame Street play house (link below) for Christmas with some of the figures to go along and they love that. I added the school bus for their birthday. They've been playing with that a lot. If yours aren't into SS then Fisher Price makes a cute My First Play House and it's really cute. The figures are bulky so they can hold on easily. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11807149

Little people toys, duplo or mega blocks, books, doll stroller... These are things my girls got at 2 that they STILL play with at 5.
Mine have loved any books, small leapfrog toys like the one that helps them recognize their ABC's, little people, stroller and play bed for their dolls, puzzles, little people. Anything that fosters pretend play, as they are just becoming interested in more imaginative play!
Little People, doll stroller, play food, vacuum cleaner, shopping cart, snap dolls. Snap dolls are a big hit here. Even my son wants one.
What is a snap doll? So in the end she got a set of megablocks, a small dressup set, some clothes, the kitchen, a balance bike, and a pretend ice cream set. Oh and a giant mr. potato head set. Can you tell this child is the first grand child?? And first great grandchild?? it's ridiculous!
Snap 'n style dolls. Kids loved them (until the dog ate the dolls, sigh). It doesn't seem that much to me, but again, the kids don't get much of anything from our families so we make up for it, lol.
