I am sick of buying the boys those plastic bibs with pockets...only to throw them out because they are handwash only and they get mold on them. Ick. Ick. Ick. I use them for a good while and then they start smelling, velcro doesn't work, and well-they start turning black where the fabric is. SO! Anyone have a good bib they like? And why? My boys will be 2 in October. They've gotten a bit better about eating, but I still like the bibs for other people's houses and when we go out to eat.

    Thanks!

For a while we were using the Pampers Bibsters (disposable) ones but mine have figured out how to get them off, even when we put tape around them! The only ones I can think of are the cloth ones...but then they are more wash. Great question!!!

A friend of mine recommended Dura Bibs... I just ordered a few so I'll let you know! I have the same problems you have with the bumkin ones (that, and they pull them off...).

I always used those cloth ones you can get at BJs in like a 10 pack. I just threw them in the wash after each use. But honestly we stopped using bibs around 20 months.

We have some that are Bumpkins I think. We got them at BRU - they are a lot like the plastic ones with pockets, but there are like fabric with a water resistant coating. Anyway, you can machine wash and dry them, so I love them!

We used the Bumkins too. I think I ordered them from Amazon. They are wonderful because you can either wash them in the sink or throw them in the washing machine (I alway hang to dry-but they dry quickly). They are phthalate, pvc and bpa free too. Ours have lasted for three years and still look and work fine. You can buy different styles and sizes. Some come with velcro, some with ties, sleeves or no sleeves, long or short.

We use mitten clips. String the two of them together to make a chain. Clip both sides onto the napkin provided by the restaurant.

    Voila! No laundry for you!

I don't recommend the bumkins at all... One of them has black stains (mold-like), and they just pull them off half the time (it's the long sleeves ones too)... plus the pockets don't catch much as they're too close to the bib itself (which makes it a pain to wash in there too) and I have to put them in the wash frequently or they stink, even though I wash them after each meal.

I wish it wasn't that hard to find good bibs. Unfortunately mine are nowhere near done with them, and I need something with a big pocket that will catch food or half their meal ends up in their chair...

Since both my boys have figured out how to undo the velco, I only use the cloth bibs that go over their head; this way they can't pull them off. I usually spot clean them and use one bib for each for the day;unless they eat something really messy.

We use the Kiddopotamus Bibbity Rinse and Roll Biband I HIGHLY recommend them. No velcro, BIG pocket, pretty inexpensive compared to other nice bibs, we rinse them off between meals and put in the dishwasher at night. The only downside I've come across with these (and it says it on the package) is that tomato-based stuff like spaghetti sauce can stain them. We just have 2 sets, one for eating tomato stuff and one for non-staining food. We always take the nicer looking ones to restaurants, etc.
I've had them for about 6 months now and aside from a bit of staining on the one set, they basically look exactly the same as the day we bought them. We got them at BRU.

I love our Bumkins junior bibs. They have short sleeves so my boy can't pull them off, and they really cover them up. They can go in the washer and dryer and have held up great. I usually hand rinse them a couple of times for reuse and then put them in the hamper. I have seen slight staining from tomato on the lighter colors, but not enough to bother me. I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

Skip the super bibs...we started with those but they were too easy to pull off.

I'm big into bibs because I hate treating stains in clothing. :)

We use those same kinds (and have since they were about a year old), and just throw them out and get new ones when they get mildewy. But it takes many, many months. We have a few sets and always make sure to let them dry out thoroughly before using them again. It also helps (for whatever random reason) to hang them outside in the sun to dry, if possible. And every once in a while I throw them in the washing machine (though not the dryer).

I think it's high time we stopped using bibs -- my kids are almost 4! and haven't used bibs at school since 13 months -- but the kids are attached to them.
