As of today my babies get WIC. Now I do not have to worry about formula for them at all. :)

The people at the Health Department were really nice aside from the lady who said Thomas was overweight and needs more exercise.

Thanks for all the support ladies!

Enh??? Then maybe WIC would also like to buy him a gym membership? What do they expect him to do, get on a treadmill and pump some iron?

    People say the weirdest things...

I guess 95th %ile weight for height is an issue when you are poor. Craziness!

Yeah I heard some weird things when I applied too, like one woman told me I needed to drink more milk. I would love to since I love milk but my pedi told me to cut down on it because I am breastfeeding and when I explained this to her she continued to argue with me.... um who am I going to listen to their doctor or you?!?! So I just yes'd her to death. :)

And another told me I was underweight and suggested supplement with formula. (I have no supply issues and eat EVERYTHING I see, I'm just small and have a fast metabolism!)

Congrats on the free cheese!! :)

Oh she was. She said when he starts crawling we need to put toys way out of his reach so he gets exercise. I wanted to yell at her.

Tee Hee that is the health dept's job to say that... everytime we go for the WIC appt. I am told my two are overweight and they would like to refer them to a nutrionist.

Also, they said since me and DH are obese, Katie qualify's to see a nutrionist as well, LOL

Jamie- that's ridiculous...your kids look totally normal for weight based on your pictures on their tickers!! sheesh!

to the OP- glad you could get the help you needed... most babies get active on their own soon enough...and all that extra chub put on the first 8 months starts to get used up really quickly!!

All I ever heard about my 95% weight baby was that he was as healthy as can be. I guess you have to get Thomas on that weight machine. ;)

That is so wonderful Tammy. Wic is such a life saver. They told me at my wic office that once they are approved they won't take it away. So if they set you or the babies up for nutritionest appointments you don't have to go.
