Does anyone have any recommendations for good children's music CDs? The adorable video that twoin2005 posted of her little ones got me thinking that we definitely need to expand our music library for the boys! [IMG] I want some stuff that will be fun for them to dance to!

    Guilty! [IMG]

We are Dan Zanes fans. We have all of his CDs, and the kids know a lot of the words (well the syllables and intonation; they try to sing along but don't speak a whole lot yet).

But the video of them dancing is from Greg and Steve and is called Kids in Motion. We have several that I brought home from work. Each one is good, but that one is exceptionally good because the songs involve whole-body movement and not just hand motions.

Here are the ones we have so far (with some commentary from moi):

They Might Be Giants: Here Come the ABCs -- The words are really clever, but honestly the music bugs me. It's not terribly melodic and just sort of grates on me.

    Like, don't quite love:
    Laurie Berkner: Buzz Buzz Buzz
Dan Zanes (a couple, I forget the names)
    Milkshake: Happy Songs
    Raffi: Baby Beluga

    Love:
Two Putamayo "World Playground" CDs -- The girls seem to particularly like the African songs.
Putamayo nighttime songs/lullabies (can't remember exact name)
    Buckwheat Zydeco: Choo Choo Boogaloo
Chenille Sisters -- The girls are more ambivalent about this, but I love it.

I also try to play them "regular music" once in a while. I have a fairly large folk/acoustic collection that isn't too loud and doesn't have swear words in it. Plus stuff like the Beatles is always good.

We love Ralph's World! One good one is At the Bottom of the Sea. Also, the Curious George soundtrack is great, but I'm a big Jack Johnson fan myslef, so I love listening to it as much as my kids do.

Justin Roberts is pretty much all we listen to anymore. He covers many musical styles and ranges from funny to poignant lyrics so the adults and older kids stay interested. My boys adore him!
