Ok, How come, my girl will be asleep within 5 minutes of being put down for a nap but it takes at LEAST an hour for her to fall asleep at bedtime?? I just don't get it.
    Schedule: (aprox)
    7:30/8 awake
    12:00 lunch
    1/1:30 nap
    6pm supper
    8 Pm bedtime.

    I just don't get it.
    Thanks.

    Jackie,
My Mattie is the same way. Will lay down at nap time and is out but bedtime is a battle. Sorry I don't have the answer for you. :hug99:

How long does she nap? Is she ready for a reduce one or maybe none?

Jackie, we have the exact same schedule! Maybe she thinks you are having a party without her. I hope she get out of it soon. I know how frustrating it can be. By 8, I am so ready for the day to be over, and I'm sure it's the same for you.

I hear you .. I often wonder the same thing. Like how come they can go down for a nap without all kinds of quirks first .. like a last dring .. a stuffed toy ..
I also think it may be the nap thing .. maybe try adjusting nap time. :)

She naps about 1.5 hours, sometimes 2. She is up by 3/3:30. She NEEDS her nap. She's a bear if she doesn't get it. Thanks!

My boys have been the same for a while, they don't nap and they are in bed at 7, 7:30 by the latest, and some nights they are up talking/playing until 8:30 or 9!! I used to go in, but now I have given up and as long as they don't get too loud or crazy...I just let it go...much less stress for all of us!!

    Good Luck!!

We have the opposite problem -- one or the other will occasionally not nap. It's always UGLY when it happens... they need that sleep! What are you doing leading up to bedtime? Maybe she needs a longer wind-down?

I've been there and I just wanted to chime in and throw a little sympathy your way. We had sleeping woes with Jamie for almost 2 years and I can say that the ONLY thing that worked was to always remain consistent with your nap and bedtime routines. I just kept at it and finally around 2 years of age she finally "got it" and now bedtime is a pleasure. She may be starting to transition away from her nap. That doesn't mean she doesn't need one, but transitions take a while and bedtime could be a little rocky until things settle down again. I know how much stress this adds, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully things settle soon ;)

Have you experimented with putting them to bed an hour earlier? The only reason I ask is that I realized through trial and error that I was keeping my boys up a little too long and they went into that over-alert state (i.e. their second wind) because they were actually a bit over tired. It was awful to get them down. But now if I put them down sooner, it's easier. Just a suggestion. No harm in experimenting! Worst case scenario: if they're going to cry for an hour no matter what you do, better for them to cry from 7 until 8 then 8 until 9, no?
