Going to let her CIO this weekend

I've posted about this a few times, but Ellie is 17mo and still wakes up once a night for a sippy of milk and will only take it from me. She slept through the night from 4-7 months old, and started waking again when she started cereal. She woke up less often when I stopped bf at 12 months. I know it's bad that I haven't put an end to this yet, but:

    1. She's so darn cute and small and snuggly.
    2. It's only about a 15 minute process--she drinks and we cuddle a few minutes, then it's off to bed.
    3. She can scream really loud and would wake up Joey (they share a room.)
    4. I don't have to get up in the morning for work. Otherwise this would have been done long ago.
    5. With her 'snack' at 2 or 4am she'll sleep until 9ish. (All my girls are late sleepers this summer.)
    6. Did I mention she's just so small and snuggly?
    7. She looks so cute with her thumb in her mouth after she finishes drinking.

Well, this weekend I have had enough and the timing is perfect. Both older girls will be gone Saturday night, so I'll just close all doors. Annie will be gone until Wednesday, so from Sunday-Tuesday nights Joey can sleep in Annie's bed so again Ellie can yell all she wants. I hate the thought of having her CIO, but I know that's what it's going to take. I tried having DH give her the milk a few weekends ago, and you would have thought he was torturing her the way she was yelling. I got up, she calmed down, drank the milk, and we were in bed 15 minutes later.

I have tried a snack before bed and always off milk, but it doesn't matter: she still wakes up! Please send positive vibes for us this weekend, for her that she deals ok, and for DH and me that we don't give in! (Oh, my dad is horrified that we're going to have her CIO. I can just tell over the phone, he sounds so sad for her. He and my mom never had to do anything that that with us...yeah, whatever!)

Good luck. We've had to do some CIO at times too. It is not easy, but it does work, at least for us. Sending many many positive and successful vibes your way!!

Good luck! I had to do CIO for night waking and I was so exhausted that I slept through most of the crying. I know, sounds terrible, but otherwise I don't think I could have done it.

ME TOO!!! We did CIO too for night waking and I was so nervous and upset before bed, and in the end, I heard it far away in my sleep somewhere...

Big hugs!! It's TOUGH, but the really do "get it" pretty quick. I hope it's quick for you!!

Good luck! We went through this around 12 months and I was soooo nervous about it, but it took just 1 night. They learn quickly that if mommy doesn't come, might as well go back to bed!

Good luck! I went through this at around 10 months and it only took one night of about and hour and a half of crying and they stopped waking for milk in the night. It was tough and I almost didn't make it through that night, but am so glad now that I did.
