How long did it take for your babies to adjust from 2 naps to 1 nap a day? Someitmes my babies talk through all their naps, sometimes they sleep really good for one and a short nap for the other and sometimes they take 2 really good naps... It is so random! I'm hoping that I can get them to transition to one 2 1/2 hr or 3hr nap. How long should I plan on this taking? We're going out of town for 4 days next week and then a week for Christmas and I'm not sure if I should wait to change anything until after then. Also, for all of you 1 nappers, what time do your little ones go down? Do they eat an early lunch and then nap? Thanks.

It took mine about 3 weeks to really transition/adjust to a single nap. I found that as they adjusted I had to tweak the naptime/lunchtime relationship b/c they need atleast 30 minutes after lunch before nap. HTH :)

We just transitioned about 3 weeks ago. They were like your kiddos for the longest time but never seemed really ready when we tried it before. I tried it at about 13 months then 15 and now at 18 they got it. It took us a week to get into the groove. They eat lunch a half hour earlier than before.

Thank you for the replies! I gave them lunch at at 12:15 and then put them down at 12:45/1:00 and it's now almost 4 and they're still sleeping! I think it might be a fluke though..

It definitely took 2-3 weeks. Mine took 2 2 hour naps a day until 18 months and then switched to 1 3 hour nap a day (they still do! YAY!). I fed them lunch around noon, and would put them down to nap @ 12:30/1pm. I would gradually move it later. Now they go down around 1:30pm. Good luck, but I'd wait until after the holidays.

Mine are still taking two naps right now. If I remember right, I think the older two took two naps until they were about 18 months or so.

I am curious to know about this too. As we have had a few one nap days recently (only one planned) the others worked out that way when they didn't take the other nap even though they were in their cribs. Today they had no morning nap either. So finally after getting them out of their cribs when we realized they were not going to nap, we let them play, and gave them lunch about 30 minutes earlier and then put them down an hour earlier than they normally go for their afternoon nap and they fell right asleep. Hope it is a good long nap for them. We need to get a few things done and then we are all going to the inlaws later.
