Going on a weekend trip

I'm heading to Baltimore this weekend to visit my sister who had a new baby a couple of months ago. I got the ticket a while ago and at the time thought it would be a good idea to go on a trip with just one of the twins... then I'd get to spend some one-on-one time with one and DH would get one-on-one time with the other.

But now that it's approaching, I'm questioning the idea... won't they be confused about not being with their sibling? And will they know each other when we come back? They get along so well right now (though that's probably because they're so young still), that I'm afraid that 4 days apart might mess that up.

(oh, and just because it annoys me... DH will have his parents here (they live in town) the whole weekend... I just wish they would leave him alone for at least 2 days so he can know what it's like (he's never been alone with them (or even one!) for more than a few hours at a time (not counting sleep time).

Anyone gone on a one-on-one trip with a twin?

 

I totally know what you mean about the parents being there - that would annoy me too! I would suggest leaving them both with DH and having some time to yourself!

Right now I have one twin with me, and the other twin is with my parents. Amelia is pretty sick so my parents are keeping Lily all day and over night tonight. Amelia does keep going in their room and looking in Lily's crib so I'm going to go over to my parents in a little while with her. They do miss each other, they're together all the time.

 

i think it's a great idea! i think it'll be really healthy for you, for both babes, and for dh (even though i totally hear you about him never spending alone time w/them!).

have a great trip and next time you'll just take the other one!

I think it is a good idea. Whenever we've had one twin away from the other, they do look for each other but then they get over it. Enjoy your trip!

ITA! Me too!!

I can see where you would be questioning your decision but I think it will be okay. Of c ourse they will not forget each other and teh 1 on 1 time will be good. That said, not sure I could do that even now and they are 3.5 y/o.
