My husband and I were supposed to visit my brother together this month but as it so happens, he can't come. Now I am going, but I am only able to take one child with me. I am a bit conflicted about this since I haven't separated the twins for this long ever before. Has anyone done this? If so, how did you cope or what did you do to help them deal with it? I am thinking of skyping but I am not sure if it will help or hinder the separation. We will be gone a week.

I flew with one across country to visit my parents for a week. His brother had a hard time the first day and then LOVED the alone time with papa. The boy with me had a no trouble at all. My husband and I couldn't believe how easy it was with just one child! I am not sure how they would do now that they are almost two. Once a week I will take one on an errand with me and one stays home.

It was a horrible decision to make but I decided to take my daughter. I don't know if it was a good or a bad decision. She is generally the more difficult one, but I also feel as if my son and I have an extremely close bond and that my daughter and I don't have the same sort of bond.... so I decided it was time we spent some time together as mother and daughter. My son always is monopolizing my attention when he's around so this will be an excellent opportunity to shower her with attention without interference. That's how the decision was made but I have wavered back and forth for a very long time whether I made the right decision.

I think that sounds great! It will definitely give you and your DD some wonderful one-on-one time! I am sure it was not an easy decision to make!

I think you made a really well-thought-out decision. :) I hope your trip goes well, and everyone enjoys their alone time!

That sounds really good for your daughter. We had a situation like this a few months ago and I couldn't decide so I took both of them and left DH home alone!
