OK. This is starting to get out of hand now! My boys will be 11 months old next week. And for the last few days they have been SUPER SUPER SUPER clingy! I'm going CRAZY!  Nicholas is far worse than Anthony-I can not leave him for TWO seconds, without him screaming! And of course-crawling after me. And he needs to be held. I can't just sit down on the ground and he plays, he wants me to hold him. In one sense, I love it-they love me, etc... but I seriously can not even go to the bathroom! That is NOT a lie! DH is getting somewhat annoyed by it-saying they are momma's boys and that I can't cater to their every need. Funny seeing how he works all week and only sees it on the weekend. He has no clue what it's like for me during the week(although after this weekend he does!). How do I just ignore it?? I'll go batty!

Tell me this is just a phase....a SHORT phase...PLEASE!

Oh-and he's had a runny nasty nose for a good week now...Teeth? I sure hope so! I want my baby back!

Any coping skills would be greatly appreciated!

Sending hugs. I am not there yet but have gone through one baby being clingy and that is bad enough. It is a phase. I think most babies go through and do grow out of it. Wish I had some advice. *hugs*

I am speaking from experience when I tell you that whether or not it is a phase is up to you!

Even though it is difficult to have them chasing you or crying, set some boundries now. The sooner they learn that you can't hold them or be beside them every second the better. GL... may you be far more successful than I ever was! :)

Ear plugs and lots of wine!!

It is a phase that will just come and go. We were out of it for sometime and now back into the throws of it. Somedays I try to ignore it and somedays I just give in and pick them up for a bit.

Is the crawling new or have they been doing that for awhile? I ask b/c I have always heard (and read) that babies/toddlers/children tend to get very clingy when they are going through a developmental milestone that leads them to be more independent. Like crawling, walking, being able to successfully express themselves using language, etc. The thought behind that is when a child becomes more independent, they also become more insecure b/c they are doing something for themselves that they used to rely on their parent(s) to do - this makes them insecure and more clingy - and then eventually the phase passes with them learning that mommy is still there just b/c they can now do this or that. Don't know if this makes sense or not - its been a looong day and its very possible I'm rambling! ;)

That totally makes sense... But they've been crawling since 8.5 months(Nicholas) and 9 months(Anthony). Nicholas is very close to walking-so that could be something.

Tonight we had friends over and one couple has a 17 month old and they have started disciplining her. DH kept giving me the eye-like I am too easy with them! But gosh-I am with them ALL day-and I will do whatever it takes to make it EASIER. When he spends an entire week at home with them-ALONE-then we can talk! :D
