Now, I know this only annoys me because I'm a mother of twins. However, once I establish with all of the kind people in public who want to gawk at my girls that I have "two girls" instead of a boy and a girl the next comment is almost always "OHHH WOW THEY ARE IDENTICAL" so then to their disapointment I say "no, they are fraternal" OR I just go along with them being identical so I can get away from the very kind gawker. ;) Does this happen to other people?

my girls are indentical, so the next, oh-so-obvious question that i get over & over is "how do you tell them apart?". i'm not sure - i just can! they don't look that similar to me. i mean, there are some actual, quantifiable differences as well (one has a dimple, the other doesn't, one has a birth mark on the side of her head, the other doesn't, etc) but i get sooo tired of listing all the differences every time someone asks!

I get "boy and a girl ?" despite them being dressed the same and all decked out in pink.... I dont' get are they ID all too often, so it is usually a surprise when they say that. They must look too different for people.

I don't even have the same sex twins and I get it all the time. We were in a store in the weekend and the sales lady says (as I have heard a thousand times) "ooh wow, a boy and a girl, are they identical?" to which I reply "No, they are a BOY and a GIRL". Next comment "But are their faces identical?"...argghhhhhhh!!!!

Yes, I get that too. Mine are identical, but then the person assumes that since they are identical that they were very high risk, because everyone knows that identical twins share everything in utero  Once I say that they didn't share anything and I was not considered high risk and was walking around town up until the day my water broke then they reply "oh, so they are not identical then?"

We are still waiting to find out if our girls are ID or not so when people ask "Are they identical?" and I say "We don't know yet", they look at me like I'm some kind of weirdo that I don't know if my twins are ID or not, then I get into the whole di/di business and people usually just say "Oh" and walk away.

I've started just answering yes or no to avoid the whole "Well my sisters friends aunt had twin girls and they didn't share anything so they CAN'T be ID" Grr..... I feel like I should carry around a twin pregnancy book and educate people about twinning!

I get that all the time also. "So are they both boys?" yes, "are they id?" I just answer yes, I learned early on that this question has too many answers since we don't know if they are or not. But DH hasn't realized that yet.
Example: Our whole family went to the Christmas Jubilee in our town which is a showcase for local merchants to sale their products, I go every year. Of course with us walking around with the twins in the stroller we were obviously on display because so many people commented on them. When he was asked this question, he went into detail we don't know yet, gotta have a DNA test, blah blah. After the second time, I pulled him aside and explained that it is just much easier to say Yes they are ID. Because twin gawkers really want them to be ID and just walk away after that.

I must get this about every day!!!! I try to be gracious, but it gets me the way they say it so Matter of Factly - Like they know!

Sometimes, I just think that I might say some of those things if I didn't have twins.

I had a woman at a store recently ask me if mine were identical. I said no, so she looked at them closer. Then she told me, "you call that doctor of yours and tell him that YES they ARE identical!!"

People. They are just silly sometimes.

I get "how can you tell them apart" all the time! I just shrugg and say, "I just can." At least you know for sure whether or not they are fraternal, try telling someone you don't know--because we really don't--that brings out a whole new conversation <_< !!

I have fraternal boys too and get asked this all the time. It really never occured to me to just go along with them being identical. I think I'm going to have to try it though because even when you tell them they are fraternal the next question is how do you tell them apart. I'm really tired of answering that question especially when it's plain as day to me!
