Glucose test

SO I failed my 1 hour. I was wondering if any of you have taken the 3 hour and what it entails.

:hug99: I thought they'd give that to you to take home so you don't have to wait three hours in the clinic! I've passed all my tests though.

 

I had to take it with the twins. I had to go to a lapcorp and drink the drink and then every hour, they took some more blood. there were a couple other women doing it at the same time. i brought a book and just dealt...not fun, but it wasn't such a big deal.

 

Yes, definitely take a book with you to enjoy. Also based on my experience with the twins, take a snack also for afterwards. A juice and a protein. After I left the lab and started to drive home, my blood sugar dropped way, way, way low. (My last lab reading was in the 40's, so it dropped even a little lower.) I somehow made it to the a c-store and bought some juice and peanuts. The juice helped within 15 minutes and I was able to drive home. After I started feeling better, I nibbled on the peanuts.

 

I failed my 1 hour with Peyton, but passed this one. Yes, the 3 hours is terrible, but you will be ok. They have to take a fasting blood draw before u drink the stuff, so you can't take the drink home with you. Definitely take a snack for the ride home. Honestly, if it was me, I would have DH drive and pick me up. My body does NOT react well to that stuff. I almost passed out or vomited after all that sugar. It was terrible.

Best of luck though. You will need to fast for this test.
