    Hello all!

I am popping in as I figure you are the experts right now!! We are expecting #3 in Oct. and we gave away all our bottles, they were the old Avent kind. I would have bought new anyway because of the BPA issue. So I am considering glass. Has anyone used glass and has a recommendation? Or any advice about using glass? Or even a plastic BPA free bottle that you LOVE and would recommend to anyone? THANKS!!!

We use doctor brown's glass bottles and love them. I feel like they are much more durable (we still use majority plastic though)... I feel like the glass you can put into the dishwasher and worry that the bottle will break down or get warped. The only downfall is that they are heavier to hold when feeding them.

we used evenflo glass bottle and LOVED them. once we tried glass we never went back to plastic. they don't warp when you heat sterilize them, you're always sure when they're sparkling clean, they transfer heat better than plastic so they warm faster, and you don't have to worry about plastic chemicals leeching into the formula.

an additional benefit is that you can easily recycle them if you can't find anyone to take them off of your hands when you wean. it's not so simple with plastic bottles, if they're not made of a material that is recyclable in your area.

the evenflo bottles are inexpensive, which is another nice benefit. we discarded the nipples that came with them and bought 3-packs of dr brown's nipples. it worked for us and if i had to do it again i'd totally make the same decision.

    good luck!

I used plastic tommee tippee bottles until they were 10 weeks and we loved them. We had no problem with warping or anything in the dishwasher or the heat sterilizer. However, when we had to start putting cereal in their bottles we couldn't find a nipple that worked for the babies. So, we switched to the plastic Playtex VentAire and I like these even better! I have had no problems so far with warping or discoloring and they really helped with the LO's reflux. We also tried the plastic Dr. Browns but I hated them and so did the girls. We did not go with glass because they are much heavier and I often feed the girls at the same time, so the lighter the better. Also, we have ceramic floors and I worried about dropping them and breaking the bottle or a tile.

I originally had the Dr. Brown's as well as Avent bottles. But I didn't like either, and we went for the Gerber ones. Plastic, BPA free. And CHEAP. I think $3 or $4 for three bottles. I just bought the Dr. Brown nipples to go with them. I've warmed formula/milk in them, ran them through the dishwasher-no warping or any other issues.

We have Dr. Brown's, Nurture Pure, & Evenflo glass bottles. The Evenflo are the cheapest & the ones we like the best. You can buy them anywhere that sells bottles. They don't leak & can fit every nipple we've tried in them. They are heavier & thicker than the others, which is my preference because I'm not exactly graceful with my diaper bag. I just plop it down & don't worry about breaking the Evenflo bottles.

The evenflo ones were my favorites. One twin used NUK nipples and the other used ye olde regular nipples. I could even pump right into them. They eventually started refusing bottles, so we nurse exclusively these days. I liked the little discs that came with the evenflo bottles, though - I could package up a bottle with water, nipple and cap and have some formula powder in one of those to-go containers. The silicone gripper wraps are nice, too.

We used a small dip sized crockpot to heat milk, and the glass was nice because it weighed the bottle down while plastic floats and is a general pain.
