Just a few questions about bathtime!

My boys are outgrowing the little netted thing they lay on to take their baths and I'm not quite sure I want them sitting up just yet even though they sit up on their own. They still wiggle around and try to go places and it's harder to clean them because they can't stand up yet.

At what age did you have them sitting up to take their bath versus lying down?

When did you feel comfortable giving them baths at the same time?

What do you use for them to either sit in or lay on to give baths??

    Thanks for you time!

At about 7-8 months, after they were sitting well on their own without support, and could get into sitting position on their own from crawling. By that time, one of them could pull to stand on his own and it was pointless to keep him on his back.

At the same point, around 7 and a half months, I started putting them both in the big bath and bathing them together. It took a week or two of getting adjusted to it, but now it works well for us.

Once they were sitting on their own, getting into seated position on their own, we stored away the mesh/net bather (probably like the one you use) and just got a bath mat so that they wouldn't slip around. That's it. No seats, no bumpers, nothing. It's worked very well for us and the boys do great this way.

I started around 6 months in the little seat things. At first I did them one at a time but then I got a 2nd seat and I love bathing them at the same time. They both sit up well on their own and love playing in the bath with each other. The only thing is right now there is no way I'd give both of them a bath at the same time without another adult in the house with me. I have DH stay with the one in the bath when I get the first one out and dressed. I use the Safety First seat with the little elbow pad that goes over the side of the tub...works fine. The other seat is one that was given to us from my brother in law and it's one of the older ones with the suction cups on the bottom. I almost like that one better honestly but they both serve the same purpose. Bath time is fun time now instead of the quick in and out. :)

As soon as they were able to sit well on their own, I had them sitting in the tub together. I never used bath rings or anything for them to sit in but a lot of people do find those useful. I just started out with not putting too much water in the tub so that they didn't have any trouble with balance, too much water & it makes it hard for them to sit and they tend to fall over.

We only fill the tub a few inches and I use a cup and/or the shower-head to rinse them off. At the end of the bath, I drain the water and take the first baby out to dress him while I leave the other one in the empty bath with a few bath toys. When the first one is in his pajamas I put him in a doorway jumper while I dry and dress the other one and put him in another doorway jumper, then let them both jump out excess energy before we start a wind-down routine.

Around 7-8 months. We used a laundry basket! DS could sit great but DD was still very wobbly.
The laundry basket allowed water to flow through freely. It was small enough that when the two were in the basket together there wasnt much room for them to fall or slouch down.
Short Clip of them in the laundry basket bathing!

    1. Mine were about 8 month when I felt like they were really ready to sit without me worrying that they would fall over and hit their heads.

2/3. At 8 months, I started giving them a bath together in this transition tub from One Step Ahead. I placed it inside the big tub. I used that until they were too crammed in it together and then moved them to the big tub.

    1. Once they were able to sit up well, between 6-7 months, was when they sat up in their bathtub. At that point we still bathed them in the kitchen in their baby bathtub.
    2. When they moved to the big tub about 9-10 months.
    3. When they were still in the baby bathtub, we had a foam pillow shaped like a bear that they sat in (we got it at BRU) and once we moved to the big bathtub, we did not use anything.

We moved them to the big tub around 4 months. We started with the little hamock like thing for the first few times and then good rid of that. Now we don't have anything in the tub.

We didn't allow them to sit in the tub until they were able to push themselves up to sitting (around 8 months).

We've always had them in the big tub together.

Now the problem is that they want to stand up in the tub all the time, I swear I spend half of the bath putting them back on their butts saying 'We don't stand in the tub'.

    Have fun!!

    Cute video

I did that too with the laundry baskets, then transitioned to the seats later on

Thats FUNNY!! What a great idea with the basket!!

At 7 month i used a blow up tub that fit in the tub and did one at a time. Now they can sit very good on their own so I just moved them into the big tub together and they love it. I have a small bathroom so I take both out and set them on the floor then one goes in the high chair and I carry the other one to their room. I have all tile floors so its easy to pull the highchair behind me.

    GL!!

I bought some bath seats that I love just when they started to sit up unassisted (about 7 months) and my girls love their baths now. It didnt take them long to learn how to splash. I always give them baths together right now but I might have to start doing them seperatly soon because when they are both in the bathtub with the seats they dont have much room for their legs.
