well, the girls were laying down, supposed to be napping this morning but were still 'talking', next thing i know, their door opens and they both come strolling down the hall like nothing! they BOTH crawled out of their pnp's on the same day! so i went on craigslist and found 2 toddler beds with mattresses and we're going to try them out tonight. should i lock them in their room? we don't have a monitor in their room, the previous one caught on fire (well, the outlet did). i know that i posted a few months ago as i was just researching on big girl beds and most people said their little ones slept in there just fine, but i'm not sure with these two! also, will naps be harder now that they can get up and out? grrr, they missed their morning nap because they crawled out, and they didn't take any naps yesterday. i'm exhausted... lol.

I take it you don't have cribs for them? I know pnp's are lower... my ds can crawl out of both crib & pnp. for us, I just keep him in a sleep sack - the one that looks like a zipped dress at the bottom and he can't get out of the crib. (my dd has figured out how to unzip hers, but usually she's pretty tired and doesn't bother it... I'm worried when my ds figures out how to do zippers...)

I also will go to toddler beds - converting our cribs - instead of getting tents. I'm a little apprehensive, but have heard many great stories here and from friends that beds aren't that bad. good luck!

no, i couldn't afford cribs for them, so they've slept in pnp's their whole lives (besides when sleeping with me or their grandma).

You might find during the initial transition that naps will go a little tougher but when the novelty wears off, they will nap. When we switched DD to a toddler bed, she did great at first and then after a couple of months, she realized she could get out of her bed and went through a phase of playing through nap time. We also put a latch lock outside of her door in case we need it, so far we have not had to use it.

How did/do yours sleep in the PNP for naps and bedtime? I am expecting baby #3. I think the new baby will eventually have to sleep in the same room as our twins. I don't know if we can fit a third crib in the room and I don't really want to spend the money on another crib, either.

they've slept great in the pnp's! they don't know any difference. some people think i'm being cruel and unusual by sleeping them in pnp's but they don't know anything different and they've had no problems. it was a great decision for me not to spend the money on 2 cribs.

I hope your transition goes better then ours!! And I know many have had better luck then me but we did it for a week and then bought crib tents (which they do make for PNP's) and those saved our lives.
Naps weren't a problem here but it was the early mornings and the constant trouble they got into in their room. Mine also didn't need to be locked in and we sometimes kept the door open a tad and I knew they were out of their bed because they always went straight to the door and shut it
    Good luck!!!
