    Hey guys
I was just wondering if anyone out there had heard of Gina Ford. She's an author on baby routines etc. and i wasn't sure if she was only in the UK or not.
Just read her book on routines for twins and I was wondering if anyone out there had tried out her routines or not and how it had gone for you? I've heard positive things from mum's of singletons on her routines, but midwives don't seem to like her very much... kinda in the same way they don't like you microwaving bottles but you know it's the easiest way if you know what I mean!!
    Thanks!

I've never heard of her. :pardon: Do the routines seem workable?

I just googled it but can't find anything specific about the way she does things. I'm sure it would be worth a try!

    Hiya,

I'm uk based and i have heard good and bad things about her schedules. My friend used it for her lo and swears by it, she didn't go into how or why but she thanx Gina for her l'o sleeping through the night at 8wks. Apparantly some people have considered it too regimental.. in the book she dictates exactly what time to get up, feed, change bums, load dishwasher, brush teeth, play, nap, load washing machine, cook lunch etc etc. If you like the sound of her routine for your family give it a try and if you don't like bits of it edit it too suit?

I've heard of her, but I'm in the UK too. ;)
My view on her routines/recommendations is that there's a lot of good stuff there and most of it makes sense but she's more rigid than I care to be. I'm all for having a good routine (especially with twins!) but I don't like the way she has everything down to the last five minutes or the implications that if you change anything it will all go horribly wrong-she's very much one-size-fits-all and doesn't seem to take into account different personalities of babies/parents. I also find the tone she writes in to be quite condesending.
Basically I think she's worth reading, but I would only follow her advice as far as it feels right for you and your babies. You can take the ideas and routines and then change them to fit your family. I've used her routines as building blocks but never followed them to the letter (e.g. I let the babies nap in the buggy when we were out and not swaddled in their dark rooms, I let them nap longer if I felt they needed to, I moved lunch around if I needed to). We never had any major problems because of it.

Wow, based on PP, it sounds like it would be great for someone who thrives in a rigidly structured environment. Some people do great with that and need it. I tend to be the opposite of that. Things run fairly smoothly in my house but definately on no particular schedule, my poor kids, but they seem to be well adjusted in spite of me, lol

My husband and I followed her routines and LOVED it!! I'll post a more detailed description or you and PM me - I'm at work right now and don't have time. But I absolutely recommend her - our kiddies are super content, slept through eight hours reliably at night, keep their nap times and we are still sane and happy parents - thanks to Gina's book. She has one for twins we thought was overly complicated so we bought the one for singletons and modified it. Anyway. More tomorrow!
