gifts for two-year olds

I was invited to a birthday party for 2-year-old twins. Mine are 17 months, so I don't yet know what 2-year-olds enjoy playing with. Any suggestions on what to get? What do/did your 2-year-olds really like playing with?

 

My two just turned two last month and some of the presents they love are My Pal Scout/Violet, legos, blocks, Mr. Potato Head...you could also ask the parents if there is anything that the children like that you could buy. My kids got a Tag Jr...so if they are getting something like that, perhaps you can get them some books from the Tag Jr. line.

 

Mr. Potato Head was a huge hit with my 2 year olds. Also their water table and their sand table.

 

Blocks, cars, puzzles, books. I would ask the parents before getting potato heads or anything else with little pieces. One of my girls STILL puts things in her mouth and I didn't give them potato heads until they were a little over 2 and only while supervised.

 

Are we talking boy or girl or both?

Girl- Any kind of doll, barbie, etc...
-doll accessories (stroller, high chair, carrier, etc...)


Boy- My DS is into any kind of car, tractor, truck, etc... I don't think you could go wrong with any of those for a boy.

- magna doodle
- aqua doodle

 

Stickers, washable crayons, colouring books, MegaBlocks, toy tea set, cars or trucks that make realistic noises, anything by Little People...

 

ours really have done a lot with the megablocks, regular colored wooden blocks- they build "garages", "houses", "castles", etc. We also would have loved those cardboard blocks. i saw them at toysrus and online.
