So I know and my husband knows that our babies don't need anything for Christmas. At the same time, it just doesn't feel right to not have "something" for them. We thought maybe something "heirloomy" - something quality for them that hopefully they'd eventually want to take with them. But we're stumped. Really nice stockings? A toychest?

    Anyone?

a baby's first Christmas ornament is a great heirloom gift.

I would also get the babies a new rattle to play with. If you have the cash I would get a toy cest but would that be an heirloom for both? Who would get it when they each have a family of their own?

Since our first child we have bought a special christmas decoration for each child every year so that when they leave home they will have a set of beautiful decorations for their own tree. They have their own box with them in and it's an opportunity each year to talk with each of them about all their milestones over the years. They love this and it's a highlight every time we put up the tree. They don't need to be expensive either!!! I love creating christmas traditions in our own home. :smilie_xmas_116:

We have been wondering the same thing (our girls are 2 months also)! We know that we're getting new stockings for them this year. We will probably get one toy (rattle/teether/etc.), one book & an ornament for them. They won't know the difference but we want to start our family traditions now! :)

My babies are two months old as well and I am getting for them ornaments (like everybody else) and towel sets with their names printed in them.

Our girls will be about 3 months old for their first Christmas and we purchased them two sets of Royal Doulton Bunnykins dishware. I think it fits the bill well in that they are collectables and pretty cute too. You could also get them a rattle or a silver spoon. And I agree that a Baby's First Christmas ornament is a must - a friend of mine gave us two of those already as a baby shower gift.

Not much help here -- my twins were 5 weeks old at their first Christmas and we didn't get them anything. (I didn't even want anything for myself except a copy of "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child"! )

However, they did get a couple of toys (mostly 6-9 month stuff) from their grandparents, and their aunt knitted them stockings to match the ones everyone else in the family has.

I love the Christmas ornament idea, but didn't get my act together to buy them one that first year. We have done it for the past few years, and giving each of them their own ornament box is a great idea (that I hadn't thought of) -- otherwise I will never remember what belongs to whom.
