Olivia's birthday is coming up and I have no idea what to get her for her birthday. We didn't get her much for Christmas and the grandparents mostly got savings bonds and a few small things.

Any suggestions? I was kind of thinking a ride-on toy...but, those are kind of expensive (the ones I ws looking at the other day). She does need a few new things, but not a ton. I want to spend less than $100. I feel kind of out of the loop b/c I haven't bought for that age in almost 4 years and there's so much other stuff out there now.

I'm no help but I can't wait to see what others post. I'm at a loss about what to get Avery! :)

My girls favorite birthday gift was the bounce n spin zebra. My advice is to wait and see what others get her first, and then get her something you want her to have that she didn't already get. That's what I did for my girls and they wound up getting so much at their party that we didn't get them anything. They didn't need anything more.

I second the wait and see approach. We only bought the boys one gift for Christmas, and they got so much stuff from everyone else that we didn't get them anything else.

I have however been asked to put together a wish list for our family (as they know what a mountain the boys already have) and didn't want to duplicate. I asked for a ball pit and lots of balls (we already know that's a big hit), the sit and spin zebra as lots of folks have recommended it as well, and a ride in car (little tykes crazy coupe).

Something else we had already gotten that I think they will really like more as they get older is a personalized sing-a-long CD. It has their names in it in lots of places. For example the "If you are happy and you know it" song says something like "If you are happy, [name] clap your hands." The particular ones we got are Veggietales, but there are quite a few others as well.

I've been thinking about this too. Maybe I'll add my thoughts here so I can revert back to this thread once people start asking.

That sit and spin zebra sounds like a good idea I wasn't thinking of. I was also thinking maybe a wagon for walks and trips to the park or zoo. I'm also excited to get some outdoor stuff, like a little baby pool for the summer and maybe some push/walk behind toys.

I hope people keep the ideas coming, this will save me from future mental blocks. I'm already refusing to giving the party idea much thought. That's like admitting my babies aren't babies anymore :( So I know it's all going to sneak up on me in the end.

I usually look at target in the age one isle or online the toy stores let you sort by age to get ideas. I just bought a busy ball activity center for my friends one year old - I got it on sale for 20.00 and its pretty good sized. Or maybe the leap frog musical table which allows them to stand and play and gain hand eye coordinations skills I want to say its 40-50 and they sell them at bbru, amazon or target.

    Yeah Olvia's turning ONE!!!!

Things they got for their first b-day that they loved (and STILL play with):

tunnel- your older girls will probably love it too, but this is only good if you have some free floor space!
laugh and learn piano- my girls still play with this and its not too annoying
ride on toys- my brother got them these 'trikes' that does have peddles. I can't find the link right now, but I think they are playskool.

Confession of a bad mommy- we didn't get our girls anything for their first birthday! They got so much stuff it didn't seem necessary.

The laugh and learn home is a big hit in my house... They love the 'fun with friends' activity table from Fisher Price too. We have a couple ride on toys for their birthday but I'm not too sure where they will have enough room to ride them, lol, and a big rocking butterfly of some sort, which they probably won't be ready for in a month anyway...

If money is an issue I'd check craigslist honestly, that's where I got 90% of their stuff.

We thought about getting the spin zebra things but haven't purchased them yet. My mom has already bought a couple of walk behind things (sort of like the wagon Kyrstyn posted), we bought them a wagon that they can sit in, it has seatbelts and cupholders. We ordered that from Target. They NEED a toybox for all the stuff they got at Christmas, lol! We are trying to keep toys to a minimum since they just got a bunch at Christmas. I agree the laugh and learn kitchen and stuff looks fun. We may give in and get that too... lol.
BTW, thanks Kyrstyn for the links to all the great toys!
