Hi all! Dh and I are going to visit a friend that had a new baby girl. I have a gift for the baby but wanted to take something to big sister too! I don't want to ask the mom 'cause she'll just tell me not to get anything so I'm asking you. What's a nice, inexpensive gift for a 5 year old girl these days? What are they interested in?

    TIA
    Mendy

One of the fur real friends baby animals! They are like 15 dollars and don't make much noise but the act like real baby animals. We have the black and white kitten and the lamb. We just took the baby bottle away because it is very small.

When my oldest was 5, she loved Polly Pockets, Littlest Petshop toys, she was starting to get into Barbies, and anything Princess. Actually she still at 6 loves all those things. She was also starting to get into kid make up and nail polish.

Something that she can do all by herself, that way she isn't bugging an already busy mom to help her with something. I would try a nice floor coloring book, some glitter crayons, or the new Cinderella 3 movie. Maybe try some girlie house slippers, bubbles, and a bathrobe with a new princess toothbrush (kind of like a bath set). Whatever it is, she will definitely appreciate it. Its sweet of you for thinking though. I appreciated the attention paid to Kenney when the boys were born.

My daughter is big-time into the whole princess scene! Twelve Dancing Princesses and all the Barbie princess series that are out would be great! They have a pretty inexpensive board game as well as really cute little movies and sing-along tapes.

I'd suggest a Webkins animal. She can log on to the Webkins webiste and enter her animals specical code and entertain herself for a bit, children 5 and up are collecting these things like MAD! THey're only about $10.

I would suggest some barbies, or some coloring books and crayons.
Or something she can play dress up in.

My niece is 5 and she is REALLY in to clothes. So when I was buying stuff for my newborn nephew, I bought her a couple of outfits.

How thoughtful of you to remember the big sister! My girls are 4 but dress up stuff is big here. And, I agree, something that she can do on her own... a craft project, Color Wonder books, Barbies.

I agree with the crafts. They have some many nice crafts at
    the craft stores.

I don't know if you have an AC Moore or Michaels, but they
    have inexpensive crafts.
