Hi - it's been awhile since I've posted - I hope everyone is doing well. I don't know where the days go. I can't believe Christmas is next week. I don't plan on getting them a lot of gifts - but can anyone recommend any gifts for my girls? They were 18 mos on 12/5. I feel like it's a hard age for gifts right now.
    Thanks!

Well it looks I won't be buying my boys anything. Honestly, they're getting so much stuff from family members that I really don't think it will matter. I've been working on a felt name book for them for months (supposed to be a first birthday present) so I will finish it and make that my present to them.

Mine were 20 months last Christmas and we got them a toy kitchen, which they really loved and still play with everyday. Dolls/doll accessories are also a great gift for that age.

    Some other ideas:

    wood puzzles
    Mr. Potato Head

I'm having a hard time, because my older DD already has every toy under the sun, so my younger two honestly don't need anything. That said, here's what they're getting:

Melissa & Doug unit blocks (this is really a gift for the whole family, and I snagged 'em during a great Amazon sale)

Corn poppers for each (yeah, we really never had these, and it will be great to encourage Kevan's walking)

    The iPlay "cool tools" set

    The Vtech baby laptop

A peg/hammer toy (can't remember which one now, but it lights up and plays music. They love the basick ball/hammer toy we have now, and fight over it.)

Step 2 50's Diner (we already have a nice wood kitchen, but Nadia gets irritated when they invade her space)

Couple of Melissa & Doug wood puzzles that we didn't already have

I asked some family members to get them play food/pots/etc. for the kitchen, and I'm sure they'll get some other things as well. And, in their stockings, I'm putting these cheap "magic mic" things that the speech therapist suggested ($2.99 at Learning Express), Gerber graduates fruit snacks, baby photo albums with pictures of our families, toothbrushes, and socks. :)

Between family members and us, my girls will get:

    Pottery Barn Anywhere chairs
    Wooden play kitchen
Magnadoodles (they have small ones and adore them, so I picked up the big ones on sale)
    Playdoh
    An Easel
    Tons of board books
    Strollers for their baby dolls
Huge stuffed animals (lion and tiger)
Leapfrog Phonics set for the refrigerator

I'm most excited about the phonics set, magnadoodles and kitchen given the girls current taste in toys.

I second the Magna Doodles! We are also getting them a couple of See-n-says, one with a "buddy" that talks. Mine are getting winter outerware and clothes because they just moved up to 12 months and need more. They are getting a couple of Mega block trucks also. I guess those wouldn't really fit girls though. ;) And just a couple of small things in their stockings. Seriously they Need Nothing (except the clothes). We also bought them their convertible car seats, but decided not to put them under the tree.

Mega blocks trucks are totally great for girls! My two love their Tonka truck more than almost everything, and they frequently pick up truck loads of mega blocks and drive them all over the house. I had to add that in case there are any girl moms out there thinking of trucks...

Mine are 17 months and their big gift is their kitchen. I also got them some new stuffed animals (the love hugging on them and carrying them around), a garage/car set, clothes, books, a few dvds, some hard plastic animals (sheep, horse, pig, that sort of thing), a little toddler boom box type thing. Family got them some books, Thomas trains, a table and 2 chairs from Ikea and who knows what else. Oh and I got Izzy a doll baby. And they both got new clothes in the next size up.

You know Idril, now that I think back I LOVED playing with Matchbox cars growing up. Trucks really aren't that far off from those, so I think I agree. :D

My girls LOVE trucks to push around!!! my 2 are 23 months and are getting

a small table and chair set
    the step 2 roller coaster
    spring horse
    dressy daisy dolls
elmo guitar - they walk around singing lalala elmo's song all day and these things are supposed to sing that song
a set of those plastic dress up shoes (my 2 LOVE shoes "ish" as they call them!)
    hooded towels

Like some of the pps said, we buy for them all year long so they are only getting one toy each and 2 outfits each from us. My family has bought them so much!!

Baylinn is getting a doll that she can dress and undress - I'm hoping she will take it's clothes off rather than her own! Breena is getting a little purse with a pretend key ring and pda. She loves anything with buttons - remote, cell phone, calculator....so I'm taking a risk and buying two separate things that suits each of their personalities.

I've sold off a lot of our plastic baby-to-toddler toys. They take up so much room and they just weren't playing with them. They seem to like wooden puzzles, books and baby dolls right now. My mom was getting them some starter Crayola sets for 18 month olds. I hope they like to draw and color.
