Getting tired of the stares

I'm 32 weeks and every where I go, it seems that people just stare at me and comment on my enormous belly. At first it was no big deal and now it feels as if I should wear a sign on me that says: TWINS coming.

Comments like, "Oh you are about to pop!" or "You're going to have that baby any second!" never end. The looks I get are even worse. It's kind of creepy when they just stare at me.

    Just venting.... :nea:

Laugh it off and say something like... "OH MY WATER JUST BROKE!!! Hahaha.... just kidding" and then just walk off.

I enjoy the stares - only because this is the last time I will be pregnant and I want people to worry! LOL I went to a play last Thursday night and I noticed people staring at me like they thought I might go into labor right there. Let them worry about it - I'm not!

Hate to tell you this but it doesn't get better :)
The stares get more blatent, and every time I have a dr's appointment, I pray for an empty elevator. Everyone assumes I'm due at any second (love the comment about the water breaking, sooo tempting, lol). Last week a lady in the dr's office (not my OB, just regular dr) called out across the room to me that I was so big I MUST be expecting twins. Gee thanks. Lucky for her, I am, but if I was having just the one, at that point I would have been tempted to waddle across the room and slap her.
Seriously, do people think we wake up every morning unaware of the huge size of our stomachs, and that we need it pointed out to us, via stupid comments or wide eyed stares? Wow, I have a big stomach? Damn, I never noticed before. Thanks for pointing that out :)

On the plus side though, it'll be totally worth it in the end, and its not forever. Just think.. when our twins are born, we'll get a whole new set of stares and glares to deal with!!!

If it makes you feel better, i got stares AND comments today at the grocery store -- and I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow!! My ex-husband says i look about like i did at 6 1/2 months pregnant, which is big for where i'm at, sure, but not going-into-labor worthy!! I dunno why other people think it's their business -- when i see other preggos it makes me smile. But i don't mind it as much as i think it's funny -- nobody believes i'm not due for another 5 months!

    jen  :D

People do stare!! So, I have fought back.. I got a t-shirt from cafe press that says "What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas." People read that shirt and immediately look away. It's soo funny..and worth it.

Ya know, I try really hard not to let it bug me but it drives me nuts when my mom is always saying, "Wow, you're getting huge! Just wait your gonna be double that in a couple weeks".

I have a sister that is just 5 days ahead of me and it seems I'm always getting compared to her in size. Of course I'm gonna be bigger, I'm having 2!!! <_<

I thought it was bad when i was preggo.. Its worse after they are born. If you ever try to get to the store alone with the kids.. expect it to take baout an hour longer.. People just wont stop talking!!! (But i love it!)

I was visiting a friend of mine the other day and she is 8 weeks ahead of me and I took one look at her and couldn't stop talking about how small she was LOL I was in shock, really I am just huge and she is normal, but I think I made her feel bad...Then I thought oh my gosh I am just as bad as the jerks who talk about how big I am LOL

I get the stares already, too. The other day dh and I were at a burger place and the girl taking our order couldn't take her eyes of my stomach.

That can be aggravating for sure! But truly, I wouldn't mind getting at least a few stares because it would mean
I wasn't on hospital bedrest, confined to my little hospital room!

Great! I wanted to do that but none of the shirts would fit me by the time I thought about doing something like that.

OP, sorry, but the freak show doesn't end. It does get better, because they are focused on your babies, but they still stare, I hear whispers of "twins! Its twins!" and the stupid questions are always there. But mostly they want to say how beautiful your babies are.

Its nice to have a forum like this which gives you a heads up on things to expect like funny looks.

Looks like I will have to invest in some good shirts. Love the Vegas shirt!!

Not to derail this thread but a friend already bought me a couple of shirts that say "All Mommy Wanted Was A Backrub"
Cute but crude, not sure what to think of them...

Not crude - you just have to have a sense of humor that isn't ... too prude, I guess. I wear a 2x-3x, so there's no cute shirts for this big ole preggo!

I hate being compared to other women like that, but I just think "One baby? I laugh at your one baby!" (which is on a t-shirt I saw and really really want!)

I´m in exactly the same boat. I need that sign too! The last straw was when the taxi man warned me not to give birth in his taxi today...whatever! My MIL also described me as being like a piece of spaghetti before to being like a hippo now - thanks for that....

I do take a certain bit of satisfaction though when people ask when the baby is due and I loudly correct them, "you mean BABIES" The look of amazement is priceless!

I imagine the comments post-birth will keep on coming!

PS I want that Vegas t-shrt - that is Brilliant!!! rolf!

i didn't get a ton of stares when i was pregnant, except when i'd go shopping and i had to be in a wheelchair... i'd actually get dirty looks from other pregnant moms!!! i was shocked.
but i get MUCH MORE attention now with the girls in tow!

we've all been there!! at my last doc appt - last week monday at 30 weeks - i was waddling (i really was because i have severe pelvic pain that makes walking excruciating especially because I've been on bed rest for 12 weeks) into the elevator when a NURSE took one look at me and DH and said, "you're in the wrong building, labor and delivery is across the street." I'm sure she thought she was being nice but i glared at her and said, "I'm exactly where i need to be right now." I mean really!!! Am i that big???

I also am shocked a nurse would say that but some people just can't seem to understand that carrying two is a lot different than carrying one. You look awesome! I can't even wear shorts because for some reason my legs got huge! I'm a small person normally and I can barely keep my pants up and my top down, my belly sticks out so much.

My legs got huge, too. I can hardly get my maternity pants over my redwood trunk thighs.

The stares amaze me. I don't know why I get the stares now, when I think I look like I could still be carrying one, but I guess we do carry differently so the whole belly is big all around.

    It's fun, though, sometimes. ;)

I got so many stares when I was pregnant with our girls. Everyone is right, it doesn't end when they are born. I so wish that I had the money to put this on a T-shirt:

Yes, they are twins! Please do not ask any questions. I am trying to remember my shopping list!

But I still don't think that will help. People have just lost their minds and haven't realized that some of their stares and comments are rude. I just tell them I have two more and that I want more kids and they leave me alone--lol. People think that I am crazy, but I am just crazy about my kids!

    Lots of love!
