    gosh, I really don't know.

My SIL finally got my niece out of her bed when she turned 6...by telling her it was against the law for a 1st grader to sleep with her mom! Sorry for saying that, but it would be easier if you could fix it now.

One of the thinks my SIL did was wait till bree fell asleep, then took her to her room and put her in bed. Then after she got used to waking in there, she'd start putting her in her room and staying with her till she went to sleep. It's still hit and miss for her because my SIL caves and lets her sleep with her a couple of nights a week.

Me, I'm a cold turkey kind of gal. Maybe let them help pick blankies and such and just make the change. Stick with it for a week and things will get easier.

I just got my 2 year olds out of my bed last week. It has worked so far, but the past 2 mornings, my daughter has come running into my bed around 6 am. I have to admit it has been very strange NOT having them in our bed. Here is what we did:

A few weeks before the "move" I kept talking it up saying things like "When you're 2, we are going to get a new big bed for you to sleep in." The kids were thrilled the day the bed was delivered. I had my husband move the rails off of our bed & on their bed that night. (I also had him install a rail at the foot of the bed). We kept talking about what big kids they are & we sat on the floor next to their bed while they fell asleep. They were exhausted that night because it took dh so long to put up the rails!! I held their hands & they some how fell asleep. We have basically followed that routine each night & so far it is working.

I was honestly shocked that it has been so smooth. These kids have slept with us from the beginning & I thought this was going to be extremely tramatic. I always had to nurse them to sleep & just recently we stopped that.....so the "holding of the hand" routine is such a big win for me! I really had a sense of urgency though because I am expecting another baby in January & couldn't imagine having everyone in 1 bed! I am hoping I can wean them from "holding the hand" before the summer is over, but we'll see.

I have to say it is very strange not having them in our bed & not having the rails. I felt like I was going to fall off the bed the first few nights! Good luck!!!! :)

We have a LONG routine (bath/snack/teeth/water/potty/get whatever you need for blankets, babies, stuffed animals, etc.) If I don't cover all of these, they will find ANY and EVERY reason to get out of bed. I read two stories, turn off the lights (leave the bathroom light on), and I sit in the rocking chair and read while they fall asleep. I alwasy play some soft music and it's always the same music everynight. It drives me crazy that I have to stay in their with them, but they won't stay in bed if I'm not in there. If they refuse to stay in bed/cry/fight, etc, I warn them that I will have to leave and close the door. I come back after a few minutes and remind them to get into bed and they usually comply. I had to do this a lot in the beginning, but they're pretty good now because they know that I'll close the door and they hate that. Lately I've been getting up and leaving the room for a minute or two and telling them I'll be right back. I'm hoping to increase my time out of the room. The hard times are when one in cooperating and the other's not.

If they get out of bed in the middle of the night, we bring them back into their room and sit with them until they fall back asleep. We havn't been great about this, but we are going to be buckling down because I'm having a baby ion November.

    Good luck!
