Our boys got their bottom two middle teeth several months ago and nothing since.

Now we just noticed that one of them has one of his top ones coming in, but it isn't one of the two middle ones. It is just to the right of the middle two.

Is this normal? Is there a normal when it comes to teething?

We had the same thing happen...two bottom, then the one upper eye tooth and then the second upper eye tooth - finally the upper two middel have begun to come in. I asked the ped about it at their 6 month appt and she said although teeth usually come in bottom two, then top two, it does vary and is completely normal. I was worried they were going to actually look like Dracula for Halloween!
Boy, getting those teeth in sure changes their looks, doesn't it? Hopefully, once these top four are in, we'll get a break for awhile. The drooling is the worst part for me...

this happened with one of my DD's as well.

I think it's unusual, but can happen!

It happened to my DS as well :) Two bottom middle teeth and then his side tooth. He actually has his upper front tooth coming in now next to the side tooth (is it the eye tooth??) It looks like (when I can actually look in her mouth) that DD might be the same way.

Tooth erruption can be totally random from eye tooth to eye tooth across.

Trevor had an odd one like that. His first two were top and bottom center teeth on the same side. He then got a second one on the bottom but not in the center. Trent got the center 4 first just like the textbook. Oh, and they're identical so for anyone who thinks their zygosity unknown babies are fraternal because they aren't teething the same, it's not a good indicator.

My nephew got all 4 canines first. Talk about looking like a vampire! His pediatrician said the same thing the PP did about anything up to the eyeteeth being normal.

We got the same thing. My DS got his two bottom one, then one of his "fangs" as we call it ... Now his other "fang" and both top front teeth are coming in at the same time!

And my DD? nothing at all going on in her mouth!

It's never happened to any of my kids, but I have heard of it happening!
