My DS who is 3.5 and has speech issues is having trouble transitioning from his crib to his big boy bed.
He has special sheets but would prefer to sleep in his pack n play and calls it his crib instead of the big boy bed. I got rid of the pack n play last night as I think at 3.5 we need to move on.
He threw a huge tantrum and called me in to sleep with him several times last night.
How do I get him to get over this pack n play?

It sounds like he might like the comfort of being surrounded. Maybe try rails on the big bed or even just a bunch of stuffed animals or blankets smooshed around him?

I'm sorry he's having such a hard time. I hope something helps

That's a good idea....make him some sort of a nest:)
    I'll try it:)
He's not into stuffed animals (my DD is and that worked fine for her) but he likes blankets we'll try that.

I would try the rails too.
Also, my DS loves to "nest" in his blankets. It would drive me nuts, but he loves it. He burrows down and has blankets surrounding him while he sleeps. He has his comforter, a very light weight quit the grandmas made, and then his blankie that he sleeps with all around him. (But he's not usually under them all if that makes sense.) Also, their comforters are light weight.

maybe doing something totally different... for Christmas I'd seen hooded blankets at Big Lots and got one each for my kids. (previously they'd been wanting to sleep in their hooded towels...), anyway, they put the hood on and I wrap them up like a burrito! they love it... maybe something like that would be comforting and yet give the feeling of being inclosed in a crib/pnp?

though note that the polyester type blankets are hot... and I try to give them other options like cotton blankets, they still LOVE those hooded ones!

I would just let him sleep in the PNP.

Just used both of their old crib mattresses and put them where the pack n play was....put pillows all around it up a little higher than the mattresses and made it a nest with lots of blankets and pillows and stuffed animals...he loved it for nap time, no complaints and didn't want to wake up:) Let's hope it works tonight too!
    :) Thanks ladies!
